YouTube

YouTube.com is a service like Flickr except instead of people sharing pictures they share short videos. I personally don’t have any movies I want to share with people but it is interesting to watch other peoples videos. For example I just watched one guy do a pretty good Napoleon Dynamite impersonation and now I am going to look for some amatuer porn videos. [Link]

Q8Car Redesign

Posted by Mark

Q8car.com has redesigned their website. It now works better on Macs plus they added a Classic Cars section which is pretty cool. The only problem I faced was trying to find the search button, it isn’t highlighted enough. Turns out after you select your car specs click on “Cars Search” link. Thats the search button.. [Link]

NetLag

NetLag

NetLag is a beautiful shortfilm by Pleix. What appears at first as a map of the world with continents lit by electric lights becomes a series of web and video cameras from across the world set in sync with each other to mimic days, nights, and seasonal progressions. To create the movie, Netlag combined footage from over 1609 live web cameras while the music to Netlag was composed by Henrik José aka BLISS. The title of the track is Do You Remember How It Felt? HotBot

My favorite search engine in the late 90s was HotBot. I even had an @HotBot.com email address until they got taken over by Lycos and all the emails got shut down. So every now and then I check HotBot.com to see if anything has changed and I try the search engine to see if they updated it and the answer was always no. So to my surprise I checked HotBot.com over the weekend and it turns out they finally updated. HotBot now uses Google and AskJeeves for its searches but whats cool about HotBot is you can customize your own start page.. visually. You can have it basically looking anyway you want or you can use some preset themes they have provided for you. You even have a lot of options on how you want to results to be displayed on the page. Its a pretty cool update and I’m going to start using HotBot a lot more often now. [Link]

MSN Blocked at Work?

Posted by Mark

Is MSN blocked at your office? Still want to be able to get on and chat with friends? This is a solution. Use e-messenger.net to chat via your web browser, but it most probably would be blocked by your company so access e-messenger using a proxy service like Anonymizer, Proxify or installing your own proxy service on your server for free using PHProxy. Go to the url http://mob.e-messenger.net/mobile/ which is a similified version of e-messenger and log in. You should now be able to chat with your friends from your office.
