Hotel Missoni – Kuwait

This looks like its going to be a really cool hotel but its strange that they’re opening the first Missoni Hotels in Edinburg and Kuwait. I thought I had posted something about it before but can’t seem to find my post. This is the hotels launch movie which is beautifully done. [YouTube]

The room looks small and cheaply appointed, like something you would find atop a brothel. But, I guess that’s what you’d expect from a hotel named after a company that makes sweaters.

Nice retro-chic with a modern touch. I don’t quite like it though.

The video’s beautifully done but if they were to play it on TV over and over again, I’d get annoyed. I thank God no one would have a 1min 56s ad on tv :)

A joint venture between a fashion house and a hotel group is something alright- just hope it isn’t going to end up looking all retro as it does in the video. But hey.. then again, that’s me- I’m just an old fashioned girl who likes Victorian or Middle Eastern themes.

“Unique Cities and Resorts Around the World”…. So we’re unique now?

And what about the wine bottle shown in this ad? Do the Missonis realize they won’t be able to offer any Chianti at their first ever hotel?

  11. classy says:

They will also have the best Spa in Kuwait..i think its called Senses…or something like that…

  16. they were supposed to open this approximately a year and a half ago. and im not such a fan of Brand hotels. It looks bad.

I’ve been stalking this project ever since the ground for it was broken in 2005 so it’s nice to see that it’s finally wrapping up and coming together.

FYI – I’ve seen the designer’s plans, and the first room you see in the video [the colorful one] and the glass bathroom are for Kuwait’s hotel, while the second room [the one done in grays, whites and blacks] and the purple bathroom are for Edinburgh. I love Kuwait’s designs way more than the other one, personally.

They are also going to be opening one in Jabal Sifah in Oman in 2012 – Muscat similar to the Bar al Jissah resort and spa – which I think is going to be nice considering the location they are getting – Kuwait and Edinburgh were the first 2 – future ones are going to be in cape town, Brazil and Oman – Very interesting locations. Oman is going to be the next big thing
