First Ring Road – Now Open

If you’re heading towards the Sheraton Roundabout the First Ring Road is now open. It’s important to note that the road no longer gets you to the roundabout but passes underneath it. The 1st Ring Road now ends at the Justice Palace.

Yeah I drove it today too, was kind of weird! lol! Wasn’t sure where I was going to end up and they didn’t say anything about opening it up on 1/1/12

  4. Chris says:

haha yea; was on way to church this morning and was kind of lost! Did not know where it ends

  5. Kojak says:

I passed through it today! But I don’t understand why it ends at that road leading to gharaballi road?!!!
It’s cool like you can see the city in a different perspective!

  6. N1 says:

Hey Mark, this isn’t related to this post, I didn’t know if I should have posted this on the forums or what not but do you know where they sell vinyl/gramophone records here in Kuwait? Thanks in advance Mark.

The same design from 20+ years ago, like the population is still one million. Amazing.

  9. Kulay says:

only two years behind schedule, not bad for kuwait

  10. mocman says:

And its crazy packed. Traffic is backed up. I wonder who came up with this design

  11. Abdul says:

seems like mark is the first one to try it out.

I work in the Palace of Justice I got exused from work at 10.45 I reached home at 12 and I live 10 minutes away It was so packed today someone has to find a solution for this major disaster :(

  13. Fatima says:

Also one more thing going in and out of the Palace is extremely dangerous u can’t see the cars

Any comments on the new 5th ring road exit from Airport road , miss it and you find your self heading to Kuwait city or next exit 4th ring road. They build big roads but Small exits . WHY ?

  15. i saw it yesterday and tbh..the road isnt that stable..and by stable I mean its really stupid that it ends in Justice Palace !

  16. Othman says:

So how do you get to Jamal Abdulnasser St from RR1? which exit do I take?

    • i Tango says:

At the end of RR1 keep to the right and pass over the airport road / you will then see a road sign that leads you to the flyover [Sheraton will be to your right]. This flyover will take you to the beginning of Abdul Nasser street,, just before the gas station.

  17. Ali Sleeq says:

Remember people, this is only Phase 1. Phase 2 is now in tender, and Phase 3 will be started when Phase 2 is completed.

The concept is that 1RR is to go all around Kuwait City.

    See you in 12 years?

  18. Summer says:

I heard that this new road will still cause traffic!

  19. Hellraiser says:

It is a major disaster my office is across the justice palace, the traffic was bumper to bumper for 3 hours, its ridiculous how the road exits to a 3 traffic light road that switches to green every 4 minutes, I wonder who thought of this ingenious idea!

  20. Danderma says:

This 2 km long tunnel is the stupidest thing ever! I took it on my way to work and bam I was next to mubarkiya’s parking! Who cares about mubarkiya! I needed to go to mammal Abdul Nasser road and instead of having this tunnel serve that purpose now I have to be stuck in a tiny overcrowded exit every morning fighting for the right to enter a one way bridge favored by by the slowest car in Kuwait while the tunnel beneath me is empty! Why didn’t the tunnel take the very busy traffic to Jamal abdul nasser road and the tiny bridge go to mubarkiya parking is beyond me! Again something that was ok was turned into something horrible after spending millions to improve it to no avail! Why should I be surprised a9lan?

Sounds like a life time experience worth trying out and getting lost.

Some rare entertainment – Kuwaitia drift style in the making?
