I have been here over 3 years and Kuwait has given me a lot to be thankful for despite the setbacks and usual things people tend to debate here and I just wanted to say thank you to it and those who I have had the good fortune to come across in it. – TJC

Meh, could have done a better job to showcase Kuwait. Not to sound rude, but this has nothing to do with Kuwaiti citizens. It would have been cool to see the filmmaker head to more popular malls, sectors of the govt like the national assembly, hospitals, etc. I know that some are going to say filming in those areas would need some sort of authorization, but he seems to have gotten away with filming ladies in burqas and so forth at Al-Kout.
Haha OK. You are right watching Government employees sounds like a dope way of spending an evening. The whole point was to show a variety of things you can see on any given night in Kuwait. I shot this from 530 pm on a Friday night to 12 am with no prior planning. With the traffic the way it is I can only drive so far so fast. Not only that it is about Kuwait not Kuwaiti Citizens. Your post is a good example of when I said “things people tend to debate here”.
title should be “one weekend evening” as all these activities don’t happen on a DAILY basis.

Most Kuwaitis are quite sick of inauthentic videos and media showing popular malls, hospitals, and national assembly… This video captured a moment and a feeling that many can relate to, rather than just making dry tourism ad

Was this a paid promotion of Kuwait? Did I miss that? You will always find naysayers everywhere. God knows there are a lot here. Why bother saying something negative about a perspective piece?
People are free to create their own perspective products (articles, posts, films) and thankfully, TJC was kind enough to share it with the rest of us; to show others his (her?) short glimpse of the country. When did Kuwait become so opposed to creativity in any form?

Al Kout is very popular with Kuwaiti citizens, just you have a very specific idea of who you mean when you say “Kuwaiti Citizens”
The fact that few “Kuwaitis” are shown is a reflection of reality. Kuwaitis constitute only one third of the population, so the film is an accurate portrayal of the situation on the ground.

I am not proposing anything. I am merely stating a fact in response to Hamad’s observation that the film has nothing to do with Kuwaiti citizens.

Did you have any problems filming inside the malls? I know some places can be a little touchy and heavy handed when it come to photography. What did you shoot this on, BTW?
Im good at filming in and out before people get pissed. I only had one person get mad and that was some guy at olympia. The other time someone said something is in the film. At Al Kout mall scene loot in the left and you can see the security wag his finger at me in a no no way lol.

Let’s face it, as reported in the local newspapers, a Canadian teacher was raped on the beach there by Al-Kout just over a month ago, but I guess that is the less positive side of Kuwait today.

Do you have proof? I find that hard to believe with the amount of people walking around there on a daily basis and the police on horse-back that are there every now and then.

Kuwait’s a fine place- it ain’t nothing awful like some people make it out to be. Ask any visa trading insider and he or perhaps she :) will tell you it is by far, the most sought after destination for many in South East Asia and the Indian subcontinent. Once upon a time it used to also be a very popular haven for people living in Jordan, Palestine and the Lebanon(in the wake of the 70s civil war). For those who grumble about things the way they are in Kuwait; count your blessings you don’t have to live in crazy and incredibly wild places as, Iran or Saudi Arabia. Amen.
It was popular for Palestinians and Jordanians up until the invasion, many of them weren’t allowed back after that.

I liked it but as a film man yourself,
It should have had few action scenes and even the drama elements should have been incorporated well into the plot.
The score should have been composed with more action beats and you need to get a cinematographer for better lighting and you would definitely need a production designet to scout the best set locations

HAHA thanks for the tips. The point was to show what any old person could see on a Friday night in Kuwait. It is a time lapse piece not a short fiction film. As faras the music I used a song I like. I didn’t have it scored. I know how to do lighting. Anyway the point of this was obviously not what you are into so this is redundant.

Oh and FYI Blurry the camera I use can film a lower speeds and higher speeds for example 80-300%. I know what the hell. Time lapse is. How’s about you cart your fat a** all around Kuwait and film interesting stuff for the enjoyment of others on your time and your dime so over opinionated simpletons like yourself can then throw known it all dogs that show others how retarded they and you really are.
