The new Radisson SAS

Starting December 22nd SAS will be closing down for renovations. The pictures above and below are 3D renderings of how the hotel will look like once the renovation is completed. I originally thought it was going to be a minor face lift of the interior but it looks like its going a major revamp. Sadly this also means Peacock, the best Chinese restaurant in Kuwait will be closed for at least a year. [Link]

Update: According to the owners of the place, the menu of the Peacock will be transferred to Rangoli so you can eat the Chinese food at Rangoli. Cool!

Update2: Turns out that the Peacock menu did not get transferred to Rangoli, instead the Al Bustan menu did.

So peacock will close down for a year… where will the chefs go?

Can’t they operate Peacock from somewhere else? The ingredients are there, the chefs can work in any kitchen… one year is too long to close a popular restaurant eb9ara7a… how do they know that after a year the chefs would be willing to come back or the food will taste the same?

I was there the other day and the last day is 22nd December. Peacock should be closed only for eight months and the excellent Restaurant Manager will also be leaving for good.

FINALLY!!! That hotel was looking so tired and dated. It really needs a massive facelift. I like that rooftop lounge in the photo

As for Peacock, yes they could have easily relocated it to a temporary location. And they still can… Start a petition!!

guys i went to peacock only one time based on so many recommendations and it was literally the worst Chinese food Ive ever had…what went wrong? i just don’t get how i hated it so much when everyone raves about their food! We ordered the Sechwan chicken, Mongolian beef, garlic fried rice and vegetable noodles! these are classics how can they suck so much! is their food oriental? not commercial? maybe that’s why?!

I’ve only had their shark and crab soup, sweet and sour chicken and prawns, their mongolian prawns, this dish with calamri and the fried rice. No issues there ever, very good food. Now I am hungry and might pass by for lunch.

Now benihana on the other hand not so good. Passed by for dinner last night and didn’t like it at all.

Many Radisson SAS hotels in the UK (if not all of them by now) were rebranded as Radisson Blu and given a more contemporary presentation. Do you have an idea if that their plan?

  14. Aarti says:

Not sure if shifting menu to rangoli is true because rangoli has been closed down since start of last summer. Every time I called up, they said they will start it at the end of summer and last month I was told that it is permanently closed.

If anyone has different information, please update because even today the reception said, Rangoli is permanently closed down…

Oooo that rooftop lounge looks great, would be better if they have some kind of parties or something similar
