The Pinkberry Cone

I am not a fan of Pinkberry, I actually only tried it once in Kuwait and couldn’t understand what all the fuss was about. It tasted too much like regular yogurt and I told Nat (who worships Pinkberry) that I would only have it again once they introduced chopped cucumber as a topping (yogurt + cucumber = delicious).

But while in New York I noticed Pinkberry had cones, like regular ice cream cones. Since it was really hot and I had been walking for ages I figured I would have a chocolate Pinkberry cone (guilt free). Turns out it was pretty good and actually tasted like regular chocolate soft ice cream. They had mango and coconut flavor as well which we don’t have here plus mini-cups which are around half the size of small cups. I didn’t taste the mango and coconut and not interested in the mini-cups either, what I want is for Pinkberry in Kuwait to introduce cones.

So if anyone is listening, please get us cones or else we will have to eat chocolate ice cream at McDonalds which I am guessing has more calories.

Update: I was told awhile back that they’re thinking of opening a second Pinkberry branch at the Avenues. I hope that’s true since I hate waiting in line (unless its for a burger).

Pinkberry is not what it seems. No fat doesn’t mean it doesn’t make you fat. Their yoghurt is loaded with sugar and calories. Check this out: http://www.starling-fitness.com/archives/2007/04/25/pinkberry-healthy-dessert/

I just checked your link, 200 calories is not a lot for dessert dude and the sugar content is very low. Beats having knefe or the 1,700 calorie chocolate molten cake from chilis any day ;)

  3. Dan says:

The cone you were talking about has 3oz. of yoghurt in it. According to the Pinkberry Website, there are 29 calories in each ounce of regular Pinkberry yoghurt. A medium serving of Pinkberry youghurt contains 150 calories and 30 grams of sugar. That’s not including the toppings and fruit you choose to add to it. You might be better off with that McDonald’s cone after all!

Correction – the numbers I quoted were for a small sized portion, not a medium-sized one. Check out Pinkberry’s site. http://www.pinkberry.com/nutrition/nutrition-frozen-yogurt.html

    Pinkberry 90g:
    90 calories
    18g sugar

    McDonalds 90g:
    130 calories
    18g sugar

    Pinkbery Chocolate 90g:
    108 calories
    13.5g sugar

Thats comparing it to the McDonalds low fat ice cream cone. Not sure if that’s what we have here in Kuwait.

Pinkberry Doesn’t taste That good , everybody eats it because its “”IN”"

  7. Nat says:

It’s a healthy cold snack. Pretty useful during hot summer days.

so if pinkberry was a local brand with no cool hype at all, cheap logo and sold at stands inside co-ops, half the price and tastes the same do you think people will stand in line for it?

people think they are cool and live in new york if they stand in line at the avenues that’s the main reason not because it tastes that good.

and for people who say they eat it because it’s healthy , most of then eat a burger at Johny rockets or somewhere afterward.

actually the best soft serve icecream i’ve had is at shamiya co-op and i gladly stand in line to have a cone, even with their poor logo and smelly workers surrounding you .. if something’s good no matter where/how it is people will line up for it and order

I would rather eat cold yogurt from the fridge with some fruits.

    cucumber + yogurt = Delicious

    Agreed! :)

  12. Fahad says:

Pinkberry’s not the perfect snack, but it sure as hell beats eating Marble Slab or Cold Stone Creamery.

The latter are tastier, but contain an exaggerated amount of junk calories.

Damon: If Pinkberry was called Abou Abyad and was located in Jleeb of course no one would stand in line for it even if they were selling it at half the price. That’s because there is something called a brand image and there is something called prime location. That applies to 90% of the brands around the world. Pinkberry is a cool brand and its located in a prime location at the largest mall in Kuwait. If Pinkberry was located in old Souk Salmiya it wouldn’t be as popular as the one in Avenues. You don’t need a marketing degree to know that.

Regarding the line, I had a big issue with it before I left to New York. I was like who stands in line for food? Then I stood 40 minutes in line just to order my burger at Shake Shack and waited another 10 minutes to get my burger. Now I respect the Pinkberry line a lot more.

Pinkberry is the best thing ever. Taste Great, Healthy and has low calorie.

  15. RoXaS says:

    @ Damon Dash :

    it sucks !

  17. cajie says:

With the long lines they have, a second outlet makes perfect sense. I am sure they are losing lots of business currently because some people just don’t want to bother standing in line for a cold drink but would do so if it is more accessible.

  19. Dominator says:

Pinkberry is good, healthy and a perfect alternative to all the fatty desserts out there. Yes the part that sucks is that Kuwait has only 1 freakin outlet …. that too in the most crowded of all malls Avenues and with that neverending line of sad, ugly people….. geekkss!!!

well lucky for me I finally tried Pinkberry but not in Kuwait, in Dubai at the Mall of the Emirates, nice quite place and very comfortable where I had my pomo flavor in peace :)

    just an update guys,
i heard pinkberry is gonna open at Marina Mall, great going for all salmiya people!

  21. [...] I’m still waiting till they introduce biscuit cones. var button = document.getElementById('facebook_share_link_11628') || [...]

  22. Lina says:

There is 1.5 serving in the small ( here is kuwait the small is the smallest serving there is no mini cup) cup so the calories in small cup of pomegrant is 180 calories without toppings!!!

  23. Abdulrahman says:

i am a Kuwaiti i live in Kuwait and i do not think that pinkberry is healthy it has too much calories i don’t know why people like it very much! now pinkberry doesn’t have a lot of costumers.
