Two Fires and I was there

I was on the 4th Ring Road on my way to Avenues for lunch today when I spotted a large cloud of smoke in the distance. I kept driving towards it past Al-Rai until just before the roundabout at the end of the 4th Ring Road I spotted the source of the smoke. There was a large fire at a construction site. I parked my car on the side and managed to shoot a video of it with my BlackBerry which you can watch above. [YouTube]

Now later in the day around 4:30pm I was on my way to Bin Khaldoun street in Hawalli to buy some computer speakers (which I will post about later) when I spotted another fire. There was a black parked Jeep that caught fire and then the two cars parked next to it also caught fire. I was there before the fire trucks came and was able to capture all of it on my Sony camera. I would have gotten closer but I’ve watched too many movies and a car on fire always ends up in a large explosion so I kept my distance. Its a good quality video and you can watch that above. Below is a picture showing how the fire damaged the three cars. [YouTube]

Are you sure you didn’t set the fire yourself for a good video? I mean what is the chance for such thing to happen again witnessing two fires same day!

2nd vids was good, but where’s the explosion as seen on most movies?

    Zuno,

That would have been cool?!?! Just imagine that could have been your car there! That’s someone’s means of transportation and things there!

They usually explode only in a movie ;-) but better save then on fire. The only things which explodes are the tires.

We should call you: Mark, the fire spotter :P

I feel sorry for that jeep’s owner plus the other 2 “innocent” cars. I wonder what ignited the jeep’s fire? Anyway, I think that jeep’s owner has to pay for damages to the other 2 cars even though it is not really his fault. I say that because a similar thing happened to my friend’s dad a couple of years ago. His parked car caught fire for no apparent reason and nearby cars suffered damages. I don’t remember if he paid for all the damages or only shared the cost. Or maybe he was just a very nice person to compensate the other cars’ owners.

One hell of an under-trained firefighting crew. No safety percussions whatsoever… sigh. Good job.

How do these fire start in the back of a car? The owners of the car must’ve left something in his car that caught fire.. but what?!

( feeble attempt at firestarter music)

  16. Soul says:

There were a lot of people near the fire at Hawally, and it could be dangerous if the cars burst.

Even the fire personnel were at close proximity.

I guess, we should admire your common sense.
