The Five Guys Burger

I was walking around shopping when suddenly I spotted a Five Guys restaurant. I was caught by surprise since someone had told me there was no Five Guys in New York before I got here. Without hesitation I quickly rushed in and ordered my burger.

The way it works at Five Guys is all the burgers come plain and you tell them what you want inside (all the toppings are for free). I ordered a cheese burger which comes with 2 meat patties and cheese, I added three toppings, ketchup, mustard and grilled onions plus a small coke. Since they cook everything fresh to order it takes a bit of time to prepare your food so you go sit down until they call out your number. My number was 47 and when they called my number out I picked it up and came back to my table.

The packaging is very basic. They use brown paper bags with no branding and aluminium foil to wrap the burger with. Only the cup had Five Guys written on it. I unwrapped the foil to find a messy burger that looked very unappealing. BUT, the burger tasted AMAZING so it didn’t matter if the interior of the place was uninteresting or the fact the burger looked messy and came wrapped in foil. It was just like a wow! People THIS was as pretty close to a 5 out of 5 I’ve ever been!

The Shake Shack burger was good but the Five Guys burger was incredible and there was no line! Nat was just starring at me wondering why I was getting orgasmic over a burger since I was just munching and going amazing I love this non stop. When I left the place I was like I’ve got to go back and I sooo am going to!

Update: Below are pictures I took of another Five Guys branch in New York

I don’t mean to discourage you as I am sure you are enjoying your trip. But what happened to healthy eating and no more junk!!!?

I am walking from 9am till 11pm so I am burning a lot of calories. Just got a Nike+ sneaker so I will know exactly how much I am walking and burning. If I am burning 100 calories an hour I am fine although I think I would be burning more than that.

is there a reason behind the name.. 5 guys ? Or is it just random

  13. yousef says:

Five Guys is overpriced and overrated. Still the same frozez burger crap as mcdonalds except after the burger is all friend they throw it on a grill for 10 seconds to give it the black lines and semi smoked flavors. Char-grilled rules and tricks very well.

Best burger places and local restaurants that get their meats from the local farms and not shipped to them in a 100KG box from china.

  14. Talal says:

you have to try Rubys cafe it has the best burgers in NY. http://www.rubyscafe.us

I don’t know if you’re into chocolate, if u are then you must not miss Max Brenner’s Chocolate by the bald man. near Union square. It’s sort of a hip Chocolate bar and they got chocolate pizza and chocolate running through pipes all around the store/cafe. But then again you probably don’t want to go cuz the owner is Israeli lol

  21. Sara says:

Mark .. what happened to your NO – FAST – FOOD – DIET?

  22. teachthemasses says:

A bit like the OLD Fudruckers where you just chose the burger and then went away and put all your own toppings on it, poured yourself a coke and dished out a salad.

  32. A Voice from NY says:

whoever told you there were no Five Guys in NY may not have been lying at the time . . . Five Guys is fairly new here . . . I think it’s been about a year since they opened their first store here. Now, they’re EVERYWHERE!

If you’re looking for some good Thai food in NY head to SEA in Williamsburg Brooklyn (they have a SEA in Manhattan, but I think the Brooklyn one is way better. It’s AWESOME Thai food, good sized portions, great drinks and CHEAP! The only drawback is that it can get loud and crowded on weekends. Take the L Train to Bedford Ave., walk on 6th toward the water one block to Berry (if you get confused, just ask anyone on the street – everyone knows where SEA is). The neighborhood itself offers some great bars, lounges and other eateries (just google Williamburg Brooklyn and take your pick).

they have corkboards near the counter where papers are stucked by guests who commented on their experience. Five Guys won various ‘Best Burger’ awards from the East Coast.

They also have sacks of peanuts in the dining hall and they fry their fries in peanut oil.

  37. Amed says:

  38. Roopesh says:
