Kuwait wins bronze at the Olympics

After incorrectly reporting a few days back that Fehaid Aldeehani won a bronze medal at the double trap event, Fehaid ended up winning a bronze a few moments ago at the mens trap event (not double). As of right now I found only one article that mentions this since this just happened. Congrats again Fehaid! [Link]

Update: Here are the final results of the mens trap event [Link]

Kuwait has only won one other Olympic medal before and it was a bronze at the 2000 Olympics that was held in Sydney, Australia. It was Fehaid who had won the medal back then in the double trap event. The biggest accomplishment would have to be the fact that Fehaid was able to win the bronze medal this year without any support from Kuwait. According to a post on 965 Malls today, Al Qabas had an article on Fehaid in which he complains about the lack of support as well as the disastrous state of sports in Kuwait. Kuwait Airways for example didn’t even offer him extra baggage allowance when he was heading to London for the games so he had to pack light since his rifles alone weighed 17KG.

Hopefully with the bronze medal this year and the online exposure some of the athletes have been getting like Faye Sultan, the local sports authorities will realize that they need to support these talented athletes.

Update2: I’ve updated this post with pictures of Fehaid which I found [Here]

This is bullshit, we need an event for Eating or Cupcake making…..

    So biased these games.

  5. Congrats and Thanks Fehaid Al Daihani :)

  6. Samer says:

Why is he biting the medal? Is he making sure it’s bronze and worth the full $4.70 the Olympics committee paid for?

Congrats anyway. I’m noone to talk, lest they make an olympic event out of sitting on your arse.

        • anon says:

          did he choose to stay?
or was it circumstances that killed him?

Even so, he is one guy who died in a war.
There are many ways many people have done so much for this country that are not glorified. and it is idiotic people like you who are making us backwards. Kindly think before making idiotic comments

thats true but kuwait was on top of the arab world in sports at that time . the Arabic Basketball Championship, the Arabic Handball Championship, the Arabic Fencing Championship, the Arabic Gymnastic Championship, the Arabic Table-Tennis Championship and the London Karate International Championship are all named after him .
p.s. keep up the good work cleaning ppl like you are going to make a difference :-)

Congrats to Fahad on a well deserved bronze.

Now its time for Kuwait to invest in sport, imagine what this guy could do if he was funded properly!

Please please please don’t send him back on Kuwait airlines, he deserves better than that!

    • meh says:

He has been upgraded to first class.

    • KFH says:

I’m sure he has enough money to be as good as he wants to be. This is Kuwait, where people who do nothing make money.

      • a says:

Well actually, people who do nothing make money everywhere. Just look at Kim Kardashian, she’s famous for doing nothing other than ”looking attractive”. You don’t know Fahad’s financial status so don’t assume he’s loaded.

  11. Traveler says:

    Way to go home team!

  12. Jeff says:

Congrats to Fahad. Now if they would only make mall-crawling an Olympic event Kuwaitis could bring home multiple medals!

  13. David says:

That’s unfortunate that Kuwait Airways wouldn’t acknowledge him as a representative of this country and give him special treatment. I think sometimes corporate machines neglect the logic of having pride in certain things.

The Kuwaiti government does, however, support the rifle team; they have an Olympic quality firing range that I have used. It is quite good, and a lot of fun, but not many people use it.

  14. abdou says:

no one noticed the cheap generic track suit he is wearing? Isnt that the one you can buy at Nasser sports center? I’d imagine he would be wearing an insignia laden jacket for representing his country, regardless of winning. And that too Kuwait has way too much money to not be sponsoring these atheletes.

  15. anon says:

A Kuwaiti who makes us all proud – a very very rare occurrence. This almost brought tears to my eyes. It has been a while since I have felt Kuwait has contributed to anything I feel is significant. But it deeply saddened me that he is receiving no support.

    Well done Fehaid!

I wouldn’t say Kuwait wins though, I would insist on saying Fehaid wins because he did it without support. And until the government supports things like these, it should never be “kuwait wins”

    Kuwait Airways? Typical.
