Gym-Quest
For the past 9 months since I came to Kuwait I have been looking for a decent gym that wouldn’t exceed my budget. The first one I signed up to, was located in my building. It was pretty big, only for women but really crap. The machines they had looked like they have been around since world war II. Also In the Aerobics class, the mats were so thin that I ended up having bruises on my behind for a whole week after attending only 1 class. All of this and it wasn’t even that cheap, it was KD40 per month, so I ended up going a couple of times then I was like fuck it.
After my miserable experience, I went to check out Flex. The place turned out pretty nice, yet it was really expensive. If I remember correctly it was around KD600 for 6 months. I considered it as my last resort/option if nothing better and cheaper turns up.
From there I went to see Palms which also turned out to be not very cheap plus it was too popular for my taste. Hilton and Crown plaza had decent prices but their locations were too far and inconvenient.
I thought my search had ended when I heard about this average gym called mabroor located in Salmiya which seemed good since it was next to my workplace and house. I went to check it out and it seemed OK. The machines they had were neither too old nor too new, it was big and pretty affordable (KD25 per month). But, there were two problems. (1) It opened only 3 times a week and (2) closing time was 8pm which was not very practical since I finish work around 5.30-6 pm everyday.
I went to Mabroor for a month. Then I decided to start looking around again. Finally I was lucky enough to find out about Holiday Inn (Salmiya) from Mark. They supposingly had this really good offer which was KD250 per couple for a whole year. We went to check it out right away. It’s a cool place, the gym is medium size, and they have a medium swimming pool outside. When we asked about the offer it eventually turned out that it was KD250 for single women KD450 for a couple for a year which was still a very good offer and pretty cheap. So I finally signed up a couple of days ago and Im also trying to make Mark sign up and cut down on the Junk food which is pretty much mission impossible.

thanks for the tip :) ill go check it out.
Thanks Nat,
Just arrived in Q8 and was actually looking for gyms. Ur input saves me a lot of time. Im sooo glad i found this blog, im not alone in this place!

Welcome to kuwait and hope u enjoy ur stay here:)
Hi Nat. Your blog is terrific. Mark has a filthy e-mouth that makes me laugh. Love your new puppy, but not so convinced about the hamster.
I’m in Kuwait for 3 months and totally clueless about where things are. I saw the Holiday Inn address on the Holiday Inn website, but it also had directions to Hwy 40 and 5th Ring Rd… can you tell me if that’s right? And where is Flex for Women? Sounds WAY too pricey but I thought I’d check it out in case there’s some kind of special. Couldn’t find anything about it on the internet. Thanks!
Sweet blog lay out. I am have a built a url and need to theme it based on angeles data los recovery. This blog looks like it took a ton of time to build. How long does it take to establish a blog like this?. Virgin Blogger, LINCOLN
Wow this is a nice site. :0) I like the comments even though I don’t 100% agree with all of them. I am a grad student at the University of Sacred Heart in Connecticut. If you don’t mind I will use your blog as a example for my semester project that I am doing on the internet and ecommerce. If you reject the thought send me a quick email

Hey , i would like to ask what are the exicting things to do here in Kuwait other than hanging out to restaurants!
I have read about the gym stuff it seems to be fun, can u give me some more recommendations ?
Hey Nat,
I am fairly new to Q8. Your blog is really helpful.
It’s been almost 5 years since you posted this. Hubby and I just moved into a flat in Salmiya, very near Holiday Inn and we’re considering the their gym. Is it still good? Or can you recommend a better gym within or near Salmiya.
Cheers!
