This is going to be a bit of a long post and it will sound like an advertisement but I don’t care since it’s something that’s very important to me.
I’ve never thanked Fahad for changing my lifestyle and I figured the best way to do it is by dedicating a post to him. For those of you who’ve been checking the blog from the start you might remember the amount of junk food I used to eat. Just check these old posts [Click Here] and check the dates underneath those posts. That’s basically what I used to eat on a daily basis and it wasn’t just a phase, it was my lifestyle from the day I left to college up until over a year ago when I signed up to Fahad’s gym Core Fitness.
I remember when I found out I had acid reflux the Dr told me I had to change my eating habits and start exercising I literally laughed at him. Told him no way that was going to happen since I’m just too lazy. Then one day I decided to try this exercise thing, I had a home gym which I had only used once before and figured maybe if a trainer came over to my place and trained me at home I wouldn’t be too lazy about it. I posted on the blog asking people if they knew any trainers and that’s when Fahad emailed me. I had met him previously on an offroading trip and so I kinda knew who he was, he told me he had a gym and I could sign up there. I was replying back telling him thanks but no thanks when I decided to check his website and that’s where I read “20 minutes just 2 times a week”. 20 minutes? That’s nothing, no matter how busy I am with work and my blog, fitting 20 minutes into my day just twice a week would be doable. So I signed up and ever since I’ve changed into a completely new person.
I’m so into the Core Fitness lifestyle I’ve become a traveling salesman for them. Everyone I know who tells me “Mark you’ve lost a lot of weight, you look really fit” I shift into Core Fitness sales pitch mode. Their first excuse when I tell them to sign up at the gym is “I wish I could but I don’t have time”. I hit back with “dude it’s just 20 minutes twice a week!” And that grabs their attention just like it grabbed mine the first time I heard it.
Thing is you start off twice a week for 20 minutes but after awhile you end up wanting more. I’m not going to post Fahad’s secret to how he hooks you in (yes I’ve figured out the formula!) but lets just say it works really well. I went from a junk food addict who hadn’t done any kind of exercise for over a decade into the fitness/health obsessed freak I am today. I started with 20 minute sessions twice a week and then it became three times a week and then four. Now it’s 1 hour sessions three times a week and if I could fit in more sessions into my busy life I would. I’ve been going to the gym steady for nearly a year and a half now. I don’t miss sessions and if I do it’s usually because of an emergency or I’m stuck at work. Food wise I’m eating incredibly healthy now and I don’t even find it tough anymore when Fahad assigns a new routine for me. He could tell me to eat beans and spinach three times a day for a whole month and I would do it without any issues or complaints.
Now what made me want to write this post today is the following comment a reader left under the “My Bike Ride” post:
I have 30% body fat. I smoke like a chimney. I eat whatever I want. I drink like a fish. The most exercise I get is working the gas and brake pedals. Iโm so happy with my lifestyle choice, not having to do crazy things like walking home to achieve a target.
It made me realize that I don’t have to eat healthy, I don’t have to exercise, I don’t have to hit 12% body fat and I don’t have to walk home. I WANT TO do all the above. I like doing them and I want to do more and the reason for this drastic lifestyle change was Fahad. So for this reason I want to say THANK YOU FAHAD. Thank you for changing my lifestyle and I hope you manage to change a lot more people as well. And of course a huge thank to all the trainers at the gym who kept pushing me even when I was begging them to be easy on me.
Make sure you guys visit Fahad’s blog [Here]
And here is a link to the Core Fitness [Website]

Wow! Thank you! I’m INCREDIBLY speechless! Literally speechless! Give me some time to sponge this in :p.
THANK YOU MARK!!
thank you fahad!
Thank you Fahad and Mark!!!
Thank you Fahad for inspiring a positive change in someone’s lifestyle ๐
Great post Mark, although I’m not a customer at Core Fitness I do follow Fahad’s tweets and blog posts and I’m proud to say that I’m on the way to achieving my targets as well. Thanks Fahad ๐
Since the past four months I’ve been talking to my friends about joining Core Fitness they ended up joining and I’m still lazy about it!

Good for you Mark….
That’s the “secret” to any life choice….to become positive about it, and say and act like its doable…
Keep up the good work.
Aww that’s so sweet, i can’t believe i actually read the whole thing!!! really sweet
Yoah, I’m famous (or infamous). HAHA..
3AAASH IL FIHDI…WOOOHOOOOOW!!!!
I remember you writing about your first experience and how you nearly threw up.
As I look at myself, I’m afraid I might just pass out from exhaustion ๐
Maybe I’ll give it a try – but Fahad gonna have to be gentle with me.
no..fahad doesnt like men so stop asking him to be gentle on u
Really wish there was a women’s version.
Thanks for sharing this! It’s really nice to see people who share their drastic changes!
I too was in the same boat as you were, but not as bad though! Eating 1 large bags of chips with 2 – 3 300ml of coke all in one sitting. not having breakfast or maybe just donuts, eating Beef patties, burgers and pizza (%75 of a large pizza!)…etc. Vegetables? I didn’t even now what they were?
My change didn’t come from reading people’s changes in bodybuilding.com or any other site of the same type, it came after I saw this picture of one of my favorite artists:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/rebba/2965561550/in/faves-naelsobjects/
I know it’s kind of a lame reason and somewhat doesn’t make sense, but it was basically everything that I needed to get myself started!
2 years and 2 months have passed, and I rarely missed a breakfast.
158 – 160lbs
5’6
%11 – %12
And the beauty of it all is that I LOVE doing it! I’m not doing it because I have it, or because I have to be healthy, I’m doing it because I love doing it! and that’s what I think, is the key to keep doing it.
This sounds really motivating. Do you know/ recommend any female personal trainers that are good enough for us girls? Thing is, almost all the gyms I tried in Kuwait donโt hire experienced trainers, and the last gym I joined made me end up with chronic knee problems โ needless to say how well-known this place is.
Fahad is one of the best advisers out there! I couldn’t go a day without checking his blog. He’s an amazing person and everything that he blogs about changes your life for the better one way or another. It’s so great to hear what a difference he’s done in your life and I’m sure many mores too!
This post put a smile on my face ๐
Now I just wish he had a females gym too ๐ lol
wow should make hubby join since I see him spend his whole day at the gym and no use ๐
Fahad should def have the same strategy and develop a gym for girls , I would def join … 20 minutes I can do.. other than that the same excuse I really don’t have time .
Mark I heard that you lost so much weight from other blogger.. and you have a new looking going on ;P
I finally went to sign up, to my dissapointment they said its full and put me on a wait list. Still waiting. looks like they are out of bandwith to handle more people. Program seems awesome.
You know whats worse? I asked them to change my timeslot before the end of my subscription, then as I was walking out on another day they tell me its not possible so theyll call me to fix up my schedule. They never did. Nobody picked up the phone either no matter when i called for a week its as if they gave my slot to someone else and they can see my number on caller id. At one point an egyptian receptionist answered and i explained to him my situation in detail, he said he’d take care of it but never did. So im signed up elsewhere and im happy. Thank you core fitness for 4 good subscriptions that really kickstarted my gym habits but i hope the surplus of waitlisters does not make you lose sight of your existing clients. That was classic negligence pure and simple.
Fahad, I demand a female gym! ๐
Mark, I would see this post as more as a motivational piece rather than an advertisement. I’m sure a lot of people here consider themselves “junk food addicts”, but your post seems really inspirational, atleast you got me thinking of pursuing a healthy life style ! Cheers
Fahad, what’s your secret? A Kim Kardishian poster with “get me” in a red heart?
dont hate on me because of what i am about to write.. its the truth afterall..
but first things first, good for you mark. i for one used to be digsuted by your previous psots- i.e. best burger in kuwait- and i am glad you are seeking a better lifestyle.
as to fahad, keep up the good work. you seem like a smart guy, hope success follows you whereever you go.
back to what i was going to originally say..
i do not think this kind of program will be suited to girls here in kuwait.. not saying it will not be successful, it can.. but not as successful as the ‘guy version’.
reason? girls dont like being told what to do.
programs like what fahad does at core fitness are very demanding.. you have to be determined in and out of the gym. girls usually are not as determined when it comes to the gym compared to guys.
lst but not least, you need to find a female trainer that is not detered by constant complaints and (potential) rude behaviour by her clients.
am just saying.. to some degree you know i am right.
I just really hate it when a man busts out the common stereotype on all women.
A determined person is just that, determined, male or female. Determination and focus are gender neutral.
So grow up.
Yeah let em know somethin girl! I worked with a South African female fire fighter who put us to shame cardio and weight wise!
Thanks guys! I truly appreciate the support. ๐
In regards to what 7amood said, he’s definitely right. A female gym will be in operation very soon, and we have taken the female aspect of it into consideration. Core Fitness will still maintain its “bust ass or leave” attitude with the females, and hopefully they will start to comprehend that this is what it takes to achieve results.
We had the same problem with the males. We coped and patiently waited, filtering out clients that simply didn’t get it.
What an inspirational post. I love Fahad’s sense of humor and passion for his healthy way of life. Such a nice guy and I’m a big fan of his blog. Even with his busy schedule he always makes the time to respond to his numerous comments. After reading his story about how he was an obese child and turned his life around, I thought this guy really practices what he preaches. For some reason he sometimes pops into my mind when I overload on junk. I feel guilty!
Anonymous: Our sincerest apologies! I’d greatly appreciate it if you email me asap. It’ll be worth your while!
Fahad…dude…help!
I’m still in a dilemma as to whether or not to join core.
I’m an intermediate bodybuilder. I’ve been working out for the past 8 months at platinum(45 mins sessions 5x week). I’ve also been eating 5 “clean” meals everyday for most part of the last 8 months.
I would like to know whether joining core would be beneficial for me because as I see it, it looks a suitable place for people who lack the motivation to workout or those who don’t have much time to spare.Gym rats like me are better off at places like platinum or oxygen.
What say?
Oh yes, just to let you know about my goal. I’m 5’8 and weigh 65kgs at 9.2% bodyfat. I want to hit 70kgs at 8% bodyfat by the end of the year.
