Green Island to turn into a touristic mini city

I first heard about this project around a year ago but due to secrecy reasons I wasn’t able to write anything. Then a few days back I noticed Frankom posted a link from AlQabas newspaper on this project so I guess it’s now officially announced.

The Green Island at the moment isn’t really serving any purpose and the proposed idea is to turn it into a mini city with a hotel, resort and a lot of restaurants located all around the island. There is a large bay in the middle of the island and if you surround the area around it with restaurants it will end up being a larger version of Marina Crescent which would be pretty cool.

If I understood the AlQabas article correctly, construction will begin end of this year and the project will be completed in 4 years. Check out the article [Here]

How I remember those days, when Green Island was a lively and fun place. Looking forward to the plan to be executed.

well if you looked at the old Green island you can see pedal boats, video games. it was really good well if you go there now all you will see is barbeque barbeque barbeque …
i was terrified to see that view smoke children cycling in smoke. i want there after a long time. well if restaurants are concern we have a lot of restaurants in Kuwait. there should be some entertainment part like dolphin park or something related to water where people can enjoy not just lay down and have coffee or food

I agree, how many more restaurants do we need in Kuwait? We need something that involves walking and moving every part of the body, not just the mouth. It’s look pretty cool, the question is, will it actually be completed or will it just fall apart like the heritage village project?

Really? Why are the birds only there? Its not like its any different from the rest of the coastline? I bike around there regularly and haven’t really noticed anything other than sea guls and the occasional flamingo.

You can google around. True its the same like the rest of the coastline. Some of the migratory bird I’ve found here are the Eaurasian Hoope, Grey Wagtail,Basra Reed Warbler, White-eared Bulbuls (mosy frequented) and Common Myna.

4 years for some refurb?

Do you realise it took Dubai 5-7 years to build the entire massive Marina area?

I don’t know if you have looked outside your window today, but this isn’t Dubai.

Such a project should never be built, it stupid to destroy a park and make it into a mall.
