A few things needed

I had to move my piano two years ago. There were only two people in Kuwait (both have shops in Hawally). One said can’t move my piano cuz its too big and the other one (who appears to have been previous partner in the first shop) offered to move my piano.

I wish I remember his name or have his phone available to warn you of him!

He was big talker, talked about all the grand pianos he moved and all the wealthy houses he’s been into. He also talked about all the music that he wrote and offered to give me piano lessons after we’re done with moving the piano.

All he had to do is take the piano from ground floor to the first floor.

I had this Piano in the family since the 80s, its a large KAWAI and moved through three houses over the past three decades. Never been moved by a music professional, just handy men off the street. However this time, because the staircase is narrow, we had to disassemble parts of the piano to make it lighter.

This dude, Mr Know it all, offered to bring his own ‘professional’ men to help with the move and suggested that I not bring any men from the street.

He ended up bringing his cousins/flatmates. No muscles, just large bellies. he wrapped the piano with his blanket (which he probably still use on his bed) and lifted my piano to my office room on the first floor in pieces. literally in pieces… he ended up gluing some parts… the piano no longer sounds like piano. and the bastard was shameless and asked for his fee. i smiled and paid him, though inside me i wanted to stab him with back of piano hammer in his ear.

hi there

his name is Mondee – he is a piano tuner we used when bringing a piano from overseas (3.5 years ago). He was OK, a really old guy. The only disappointment was he asked if he should clean the foot pedals, and i didnt understand what he meant, before you knew it he was sand papering a 29 year yamaha piano!!! so i told him to stop. But tuning wise he is ok, i dont have the right to put his mobile up here, so let me know if you are interested and i will email you

for moving there is no one here i trust, maybe go to dawaliah but i dont know if they will help.I know it is a bit extreme but maybe box it up nice and good (with wood and plenty of soft things) and then watch and manage so tuff guys to lift it or something.

hope this helps

My wife has been searching for a piano tuner for 6 weeks. Several hotels have given her the name if the same guy. He promised to show up — five weeks ago then stopped answering his phone. Surely there has to be another piano tuner in Kuwait? There’s obviously demand. If you know of someone ask them to contact me via my blog. Or call me at GUST. Thanks.

2- usually the stores that sell pianos also can arrange for moving and tuning. I got mine from Al-Dawliah, opposit to old Marks & Spencer. The store also told me that Agility does provide moving service, but expensive.

First thing I did was call Al-Dawliah but guy who answered didn’t know and then he asked around and no one knew so he took my number to call me back but hasn’t so far. I got a name of a tuner and number on twitter, will call him up and see:

Just an update, Al Dawliah just called me, they are gonna charge me KD35 for tuning and KD5 to move the piano (i’m moving it from the apartment next door over to mine). KD5 is a great deal since I tried to pick up the piano myself and it was super heavy. They should actually have pianos at my cross fit classes instead of truck tires and just have guys lift it up and drop it as one of the work outs.

sounds good deal. could you please provide me with al-dawliah phone number (or number of the person doing the tuning from them).

thanks
