So I am coming back home after work on the Gulf Road and I notice there was a huge fire behind Texas Chicken. So made a detour, passed Texas Chicken and parked my car just as the fire truck was arriving. I take my camera, locked the car and walked towards the fire. The fire looked huge and still fresh so I turn on my camera to shoot and turns out I had no battery! This was the first time I ever ran out of battery when I needed to shoot something. I felt naked.

No camera phone?
Damn that sucks! Told you get a decent phone with a camer and you never know when you might need it! Mine comes in handy every once in a while!
it was dark, dont knwo any phone cam that would have been able to get the shots.
Happened to me more than once, it feels awful.
Probably the sirens I heard while I was at school this morning was because of that fire.
Always keep a spare battery if you take photography seriously.
Will it was like 7pm

it was cold…i felt like i ran out of batteries…
ok that was lame….delete that π
I know exactly how you feel, been through it a few times, I was 20 feet from Stallone in chicago a week ago when I realised that I didn’t even have the EN-EL3 in the D70s, left the battery on the charger when I left home, and my palm treo was in the car, boy did I feel like a dum dum.
bitch = beach….omg i dono what made me say that…
Your Nikon D70 (with it’s battery that never seems to get over), plus your 50mm lens set to 1.8, and ISO 1600 would have done the trick.
Next time, keep it in the car. It’s winter time so no problem with it getting overheated.
lol! it’s ok man (5erha eb ‘3erha :D)
don’t feel sorry.. i think we all got the picture; it was a huge, scary, and fresh fire with dark/black smoke surrounding it π
let me close my eyes and imagine for a sec… YEAH It’s a great shot! π
