We’re all in the Arab Times

Arab Times printed an article in today’s paper on Latina Mina’s drunk deejaying the other night and the whole article was just all quotes from the post on my blog and all its commentators. Its cool that blogs are actually being taken seriously but they should have actually mentioned 2:48AM instead of calling it just “a blog”. I guess they should have also written an article instead of just taking quotes from everyone and sticking them together. Here is the link to the article on Arab Times and if it doesn’t open up for some reason I’ve saved a pdf version which you can download below. Maybe I should just call them “a newspaper” from now on.

Update: Latina Mina has fled the country. Here is the latest article on this from “a newspaper”. [PDF version]

Update2: According to someone working at 99.7, any employee at the station who asks for a recording of the session will get fired on the spot. The ministry really does not want the recording to make its way online.

Does that mean we’re famous and we can act like jerks and show up to work drunk and cuss on air???

wait unless ur name latina mina then yes to all of he above

yah mark, i heard her say F*** a couple of times last year when i returned from school, thats around 2:30.. i always thought i heard wrong! but now i knw its true!

They need funnier gimmicks, like “The Terrorist”, “Kuwaiti Johnny Bravo” and such.

Stereotypes that fit the needs of America’s society’s demographics aren’t that popular in here.

She sucked anyways…glad to see she’s off air..keep up the good work on the blog Mark.
“With great powers comes great responsibilities”….., now even AT has your blog bookmarked for their local news.

What makes me scare is they just take the info’s from this blog (which could be wrong easily, what about the truth in all the other informations? Are journalists so lazy today?

gman, I totally agree. I was reading the article and was disgusted that the Arab Times reprinted everything that was on the blog. Not questioning the veracity of anything on this blog, but not everything you read online can be taken at face value. It was a huge disservice to just cut and paste from a blog, without researching the story. Sad journalism!!

Well yeah they should have mentioned that this was from the comments section of 248am
And I agree with some of the posts above, since when were blog comments a credible source of news material?

I recommend you demand money from them.

PS: How is your bike in excellent condition if you had an accident with it?

Soares: because the bike is in excellent condition, you think I was riding it all this time with scratched up paint and a broken foot rest? I repaired those ages ago.

** When another DJ told her she was embarrassing the radio station, she allegedly cussed on air and then they killed the broadcast. **

Isn’t “cussed” supposed to be slang for “cursed”? lol, surely an english daily like Arab Times should’ve known better to prepare a decent item with correct English!

Ok, it seems it will be impossible to get the recording from someone inside the station. The ministry really does not want this recording to make its way online. According to an insider anyone employee asking for a recording of that session will get fired on the spot.

I guess it makes sense. In the States if a dj swears on the air its like a huge ridiculous fine so imagine a dj drunk on the air and swearing in a conservative place like Kuwait…

soares: I don’t know what you’re trying to get to but as a matter of fact my Z4 had been in a minor accident and I purchased the car knowing that. The owner didn’t hide that information from me and I purchased the car from him in excellent condition.

Everyone who says they heard the exchange has reported the content.

So why would anyone want to hear senseless trash? You want to hear her say Go fuck yourself? over and over again?

I think it says something about our own values, doesn’t it, when we stoop to someone else’s vulgar attitude.

99.7 is an FM station – it is supposed to play top 40 music, contemporary music on the *charts* not have some tom, dick or harry take out large chunks of time to play their own ’specialized’ music (i.e. Latino, country etc).

If the idiot DJs dont know what the charts are I refer them to BILLBOARD top 40 or Itunes Top hits etc — it doesnt take a rocket scientist.

The problem with FM 99.7 is not so much the DJ’s, but they lack focus, efficient management, vision, they change their modus operandi every few months or so …

1. Who demanded Latin music for hours on end?
2. Who made that call?
3. Who hired that clown?

Management needs to take responsibility as well. They hire the people, they pick the music, they are responsible.

We need a Virgin radio station here – like they have in the UAE with Western professional DJ’s not ‘kids’ playing around talking crap: trivia, news, etc.

Play music and shut the hell up.

Insert commercial every 10 minutes.

Rinse and repeat.

It’s probably irrelevant at this point, but I always thought her name was ‘Latina Nina’ – Nina being a nickname for Christina, a very popular name in the hispanic community….

hey guys, do you know what happens to drunk DJs’ in Kuwait?
They…..
GTFO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL, I just wanted to say that cuz its so relevant ^_^

AT says she’s fled the country and that she “reportedly” has Kuwaiti nationality…so how long can she be gone…she’s gotta come back someday.Just waiting for the heat to settle i guess.

@hilaliya—you said it bro….who wants to hear Latin music for an hour.

I doubt if there will be anyone who misses her show…Yawwnnnnn!!

Gimme Dr Labouche anyday.
