A reader found some previously unreleased renderings of the new Avenues Phase 4. One of the renderings gives a general idea of how one of the hotel towers will look like. Not sure what kind of view the rooms will have though since Al-Rai isn’t very pretty. If anyone knows what the two hotels will be called please let me know. Also looks like we might be in the race to break the world record for the largest disco ball.

the Rumor said one of the two hotels will be four points Sheraton
yup its the Sheraton. M.AlShayaa uncle is the CEO of Sheraton Kuwait)
yeah one of the two hotels, probably the 4-star one. What would the other be?
maybe Sheraton 5* and Sheraton Four Points 4*
Personally I don’t think Sheraton will open at Avenues. There is already one in Kuwait and a Four Point as well. Alshaya are launching Four Seasons in the city so maybe he will take this opportunity and also bring in new brands to Kuwait. Other Starwood hotels include Westin, W Hotels, St. Regis and Le Méridien…
Maybe he will bring new brands in but I have a hunch hell expand the Starwood portfolio.
Since Sheraton and Four Points are already present downtown, I’m putting my money on an Aloft for the four-star hotel and either a Westin or Le Méridien for the five-star. Kuwait had a Le Méridien from 1981 until 2003 in the now JW Marriott and then managed the now Le Royal in Bneid Al Gar for a few years before pulling out of the market a few years ago. It’ll be great to see that brand make a comeback here and I think its art and design focus might work very well with the Avenues…
Aloft would be a great addition!
Isn’t it Four Seasons?
honestly i dont find that interesting architecture wise yes its so amazing but we need more entertainment project its all about now food and shopping why there is no new aqua park or entertainment city why everything food and cafes we need to have fun science there is so boring no nightlife or concert so i hope really kuwait be more fun and different type of projects appear
Actually the tourism ministry just hired a council of people who worked worldwide in the entertainment industry for this sort of thing.
What are you talking about? Haven’t you heard?
Kuwait doesn’t need anymore expats. No Tourism.
I heard that the 5 star is going to be st. regies, and it will be face the 5th st.
It’s fine and dandy to build up this mall, but if you don’t fix the roads around this mall, it will greatly affect this project. It’s a no brainer to close the freeway off-ramp at the entrance to this mall which is a start and to open an exit road off the 5th Ring Road so that mall guests can bypass the gridlock on a road that is going towards the Shwaikh port? You could also open a exit by IKEA with a four way street light that can send traffic more easily to the 5th Ring. Road development is so poor in Kuwait. If I was Al-Shaya I’d bang an umbrella on some government’s official’s desk until they fix the roads around my mall.
Alshaya does not own the Avenues.
He just owns the company that does
LOL
That’s not true. Alshaya Group, which Mohammed Alshaya runs, is a major shareholder of Mabanee, the company that owns the Avenues. There are other big shareholders.
If I’m not mistaken, Mohammed Alshaya doesn’t have shares in Alshaya Group.
From what I am aware Alshaya isn’t a public company it’s a private family business so there are no shares. He owns it.
Yes Alshaya Group is a private family business. I meant shares between members of the Alshaya family. As far as I know he owns none because his father is still alive.
Go look up who Mabanee’s chairman is then come back
I know who the chairman is, maybe you should read my comments above then come back?
P.S. I think you are grappling with straws if you think St. Regis is coming in here with no liquor??
Exactly – I don’t think the creators of the Bloody Mary will take too kindly to opening a hotel where they can’t serve their signature drink. There were also rumors about the five-star hotel opening under the W brand but W is all about bars, parties and nightlife… None of which are gonna happen here.
Imagine what Kuwait could be if the same time, money and effort was applied to education and a work ethic as it is to shopping malls.
Private universities weren’t allowed to operate in Kuwait until early 2000s. Since then, new higher institutions have opened almost every two years. In the last 15 years 10 new universities/colleges opened, not to mention the new Kuwait University which is a massive project under construction.
I’m pretty sure Matt was referring to the quality of the education, not the number/size of educational institutes. You can have the fanciest university building, but if the teachers suck and the work ethic is terrible, what’s the point?
The government sends Kuwaitis abroad to study on their cost so there’s really no incentive to fix the universities here :/
Yay to a giant disco ball though…..
Teenager throws a machete at disco ball, disco ball breaks, Disco ball costs millions’ teenager bails out wasta pasta welcome to Kuwait 😉
