bulls***! This foaming business is completely disgraceful! Grown-ass men and their children touring the streets and foaming each other when on this day we should remember those who died for our freedom from the Iraqi invasion. Seriously, complete bulls***!

This is the kuwaiti national and liberation day! that’s why people spray foam and celebrate… u’ll never understand!

Stay away from the Gulf road, or, if you have a balcony overlooking the Gulf road, sit there, sip on something cold (or hot) and enjoy watching the mayhem from a safe distance.

3aaaad mo chithi ????

went to the gulf road in a 69 camaro( with a blower)
last year

only girls sprayed the car lol

it seems that if you go in a cressida or rolls/maybach you get sprayed

but in a car with a blower you won’t ( atleast not from guys :P)

Armani Exchanger

It is still the same. It is just that we’ve grown up and don’t find it to be fun anymore 🙂

LooooooL ….. Mark why you are not agreeing for selling foams in Sultan Center.

But February is the month that the companies wait for to sell there products for getting profit 🙂 . That is usually marketing … but I don’t really like them

this is what people do in kuwait. if you dont like it, then get out, or lock your doors. actually, you dont need to lock your doors!

but, this the culture,, respect!

There is no culture related to foam cans … i hope we don’t include “foaming people” as a cultural activity very degrading in my opinion to be considered as a culture but rather as a fun activity for the purpose of celebrating no problem foam yourself to your hearts content bel 3afya.

Recent trends however is with kids not raised well or in a retarded environment adding hair remover, urine !! , spit you name its been used. I don’t remember us as kids doing anything remotely close to this we actually had fun. Everything now is abused and used for the exact opposite of its intended purpose.
Nonetheless, have a SAFE liberation and National day

very good that people celebrate the national & liberation day in kuwait.but some people not polite when they use the foams during this appropriate

@passingby: typical q8i arrogant response.

It’s retarded, a people should celebrate their county’s liberation and independence not just in the destruction of otherr ppls property (cars, selves)– it’s rather immature and I think energy should be channelled in more positive ways. That’s fine if one afternoon that’s the “custom” (not culture) but what about honoring the lives lost, the achievements and milestones reached thereafter, those who fought for their country (that are still alive)? Kids dot even know WHY those days are celebrated!!

is it just me or is holla a bitch who needs to get deported, seems like every comment his fat ass makes is degrading or attacking Kuwait…like to see how things are like in his fucking neck of the woods

i think this should be controlled by the cops…like this foam hurts the paint jobs of cars..i dont want my 18,000 kd car to be sprayed personally…but whats worse is that some people open the doors of moving cars to spary the people inside…that should be punishable by law!! i remember last year my friend was driving out of the gym and some kids jumped on her car..she locked her doors and they climbed on the roof of her car to spray her through the sunroof…i honestly blame the cops AND the ministry of commerce for allowing this shit to be imported in the first place

“FEB=Hell”!!!!! thats extremley rude man !! Feb is full of celebrations for real kuwaitis here living in kuwait and eating from it!! ok i agree foams and stuff being done is not sensible but still its a tradition yr by yr celebrating a day were kuwait was liberated from Saddams government!! mark i would like to request to take off the Feb=Hell word of the post please!

personally, i declare it a Curfew, and you got many other options:

1. tire yourself the week before it, gym, walk, domestic work and spend those days sleeping

2. buy a couple of DVD’s or prepare some funny TV shows, Simpson , south park , family guy etc..

3.Buy World of Warcraft, an i damn guarantee you those 2 days will pass like 2 hours, World of Warcraftis is less than 13 KD, with 1 Month Free !

or for sure you can buy those can’s and cover your face with bandannas like a gangster or a kofeyye and go out spraying guys and when someone doesn’t like it have a fight with him and end up in the police station spending the rest of the days, as some people like to Spray and not to be Sprayed.

Just one question in mind, why the heck kids spray Indians/Bengalis right in the face or every where (i see that each Feb.,i even see videos about it), regardless of their age, those poor people can barely earn 25-35 KD per month and probably doesn’t have much clothes to wear.

i wonder of those kids dare to spray a Kuwaiti old man, i don’t actually go out those 2 days because am afraid i can’t control my self smashing one of those spoiled badly raised boys skulls and spend my rest of life in jail.., it’s the fact that that’s the way their parents deal with the driver or maid at home, and they learn what their parents do..

another reason not to spray, is the environment, has anyone of you seen the Gulf Street at 6 AM after the foam war ? its a god damn junk yard, not the mention the chlorofluorocarbons (CFC) in the spray cans this country has enough pollution already..

Western countries (whom we always try to follow) doesn’t do this shit when they celebrate the day they defeated Hitler in WWII for example, Russia, France, Etc.., Japan with it’s great achievements doesn’t do such shit, i wonder whats the achievement in here that deserve all that foam and fuss

TSC foam cans are meant for use in Dubai. Besides, who stays back in Kuwait for the National and Liberation day break, anyway ?
The expectation is the Shabaab of Kuwait will do their country proud, painting Dubai or D-town red with these foam cans.
🙂

Are you a Kuwaiti? Is this your Country?
Then Why the hell do you put your nose where it doesn’t belong?
you don’t like foam or national day then go to your own country and Buzz Off!
Really your a pain in the *ss

what retard sprayed first on liberations one year anniversary. and i hope he chokes to his death for starting this mayhem

Today India celebrates (and I mean it), 60th Republic Anniversary. India as a country might be nothing compared to DEVELOPED nations but look at the official celebration that takes place in the capital city….its pity to see what happens on the roads of Kuwait in the name of liberation day celebration….means nothing remotely patriotic….

@ Q8Q8

well i am kuwaiti…and i HATE all the foaming…its rude and it damages people’s personal property…and kids violate people’s personal space and not to mention physically attack the misfurtunate people walking the streets

Culture, WTF? If it is part of Kuwait’s Culture, then may be we can all go visit the Amir & Prime Minister and foam them too, right ?

Wait, we can ask the MPs to stand in line outside the Parliament and spray them also, COOL CULTURE !

2-3 days before National Day you’ll have all the newspapers with warnings and notices from the Ministry about strict action against lunatics with sprays. BUT, Sultan Center 1 month in advance gets truck loads of foam and no one is saying anything… strange leaders.

On a side note, Mark, its time for a foam review.

I miss the fireworks that used to take place close to Sheraton Hotel in the big sandy area! And also the fireworks on the Gulf-Road beach side. Now that was the best way of celebrating the 2 best days!! I agree that spraying is not good but you can’t do anything about it! Just live with the fact that you can’t stop them. If you do stop one there are many more and we are not all supermen LOL!

this white foam crap stains cars paint and ruins your cars finish, (no use for polishing afterwords)

stained the hell out of my jag = repaint = 500 K.D
stained our family van = sold. (back in 2007)
stained my corvette = sold. (back in 2005)

yeah they cant think of anything cultural or organise a great event so people revert to sprayinf foam!!!
(
such a way to celebrate a country (NOT)

oh, no! Feb is the best month in the year!
No body should call it HELL!
Hellnaawww! Feb is the best!

But yeah, im against this foaming stuff, besides the obvious effects, its ewwws so disgusting! i wish it gets banned FOR REAL!!!

i mean, even regulating the stuff wont work! the kids are crazy!

anyhow, u can just have fun in Feb by NOT going to the gulf road! & that is manageable! who needs to go there everyday? there are other roads to use if u really wanna go somewhere near there…

I think people can be more productive in these days. How about a small memorial of what happened on this tragic and joyous occasion? What about bringing the parade back?

I’m actually being called anti-Kuwaiti for bashing foam! Seriously! is this what we’ve come to? I’m all for good-hearted fun, but keep the destructiveness and rudeness out of the holiday. spread the cheer, and nothing else.

Feb use to be a very fun time for kids and family to go out to parade or the firework and feel safe , it is not the case after the foam ” culture ” started. I hold great memories of February when I was kid, back in 80s.But in last few years I try to travel or stay away of traffic & gulf because of foaming. .

My father was walking in Hawalli today, when he was surrounded by a few kuwaiti young kids. They had foam cans and asked him for money, or they would spray him. He ended up throwing stones at them and they ran away. Foam cans arent only being used for fun!

@ Just A Bunch..

u have a point, but its kinda hard to avoid the gulf road and the beach area for people like me, my gym is on the beach area…so its really messed up having to miss two days of gym (when i’m off work) cuz of a bunch of ill mannered kids…its quite frustrating

You know, I’d be happy to be sprayed with foam if I were on those streets ,in those days.

But I freakin’ got sprayed yesterday on my way to AUK in daylight ,the little brat sprayed the front of my car and I almost had an accident.

It seems the govt encourages this kind of activity and hence does not put a ban on them. If the govt like the foam, why not declare the process of spraying foam, a national activity for all Kuwaitis. That way people will be warned and also the kids and police will enjoy.
It is the one at the receiving end that knows the pain of washing of the foam.
KUDOS to all Kuwaiti kids. Very soon, it will form a part of your school curriculum.

It’s indeed a bad precedent for the kids and adults…a national day or liberation day should not be limited to a foam spraying day… It’s fun to do this when it’s in moderation. Unfortunately in Kuwait it’s a totally different story, another bad day for an expat.

oh come on let the kids have some fun , you guys are making a big deal out of it , i mean etha mu 3ajebkum then ge3daw eb byoutkum and grumble about it all day or safraw 😀 , bs ana agoul kel shay lah 7ada y3ni khal e9eer feh foams ou maseerat but ma naby houshat ou e7i6oun bedal el foam hatha el hair thingy nd stuff like that 😀 , and thanks mark for puttin this up , imma go now and buy me some haha

Yay! Booked my ticket outta here. Celebrating Kuwait’s special days in Bahrain. 🙂 Maybe I’ll pack some foam. Hmmmmmm. NOT!

“If you don’t like it leave” I’m sick of hearing this childish answer for everything .. Instead of fixing your own shit .. You ask people to oblige to this shit or LEAVE.

I think you should care more about your country, and see how better you can make it.

Trust me .. You need expats in this country as much as the expats need some of the opportunities here..

Stop being arrogant

Generic answer if you don’t like it leave. The majority of expats that are here really would prefer to be home in our own countries. It would seem to me that you’d want a positive country image portrayed to the rest of the world. This isn’t the way to accomplish that. It shows a lack of respect which Kuwaitis seem to want us to show them. Practice what you preach. If you want respect then give us respect. Or maybe you all should spray each other and leave us the hell alone. If it wasn’t for us you wouldn’t be celebrating Liberation Day anyway. Or have you all forgotten that?

I, for one, think the *tradition* of foam spraying is a fun way for younger Kuwaiti generations to show their pride for their country. Being American and all I wouldn’t do it myself, but I have no problem with the kids having fun with eachother. HOWEVER, I will say it can go too far. And by that I mean 1.spraying in people’s faces/into their cars 2.spraying those who don’t want to be sprayed (and it’s usually pretty obvious who does and doesn’t want to get involved in the festivities) 3.throwing the cans at cars and last, the MOST IMPORTANT ONE OF ALL 4. KIDS RUNNING IN THE STREET IN FRONT OF CARS. I cannot stress #4 enough. When I first saw the kids running around and saw that traffic was at a complete stop on gulf road, I didn’t really think anything of it; more like ehhh, that’s not too safe. But on the 25, of this year- so technically only 2 days ago- I was with my family on our way home and we passed a cop car parked in the middle lane and saw a little boy, maybe only 8 or 9 years old- DEAD. Laying faced down with blood streaming from his head and a shoe missing. I have never seen a dead body like that in my life and it made me so sick to my stomach, I almost threw up in the car. My mother-in-law screamed and started crying. I don’t have a problem with the kids having simple celebrations in honor of their country but I have to ask… what kind of parents let their kids run loose like that? Are you stupid? All I can think about is that poor boy and how his life was cut short…and how the parents reacted when they heard the news of their child’s death. No parent should see the death of their child. It’s outrageous! I just wanted to put this out there in case you all hadn’t heard. Honestly, I just came across this page when I was searching online for an obituary or, hopefully, some kind of article in the newspaper reporting what happened to that boy and stating how dangerous it can be. Haven’t found it yet. But then again maybe it’s just my American side being just a bit too hopeful for my own good. Anyway, I hope people take this to heart because it is just not right to have little kids being killed on the road like that when it is SO PREVENTABLE. I’d also like to note to those who are ready to criticize me for calling foam spraying “showing pride” that it is not all that different from traditions in other parts of the world. For Independence Day in the US, 4th of July as you might know it, lots of people set off fireworks at home for fun…all in the name of celebration and pride. I don’t mean this has to replace other traditions, but there should be no problem in starting new ones in addition (given it doesn’t hurt others or yourself). So I think it would be great for Kuwait to have a parade, or memorial, or professional fireworks set off, and yes, foam spraying- BUT, it needs to be taken off the streets. That’s my two cents-worth. Sorry if I was repetitive…never said I was a writer :/ I hope you all had a FUN and SAFE celebration. 🙂

I bought water once from dean and deluca that cost 8kd! for 1 litter of water..
i was told after i drank!
it tasted like normal water;p not sparkely or anything special!
