If you’ve been driving by the Kuwait Towers the past few days you’ve probably noticed they’ve been setting up for a big event. Well that event is for the official Kuwait Towers opening ceremony which will be taking place this Saturday. I didn’t think there was much going on this weekend until I started putting this list together. This is probably the busiest weekend so far! My favorite event this weekend has to be the IMPROV Comedy Night and as of this post there are still tickets available. This is by far the funniest show you’ll see in Kuwait and I’ve been to the last two and would have gone to this one as well if I was going to be in Kuwait this weekend. So get tickets if you haven’t! I’ve been posting the Madeenah Tours on my events page ever since I first heard about them but I never actually went on a tour until a few days ago.

On Saturday I was invited to join Madeenah on their final tour of Bneid Al Gar. We met up outside Safir Hotel at 4:15PM and the Madeenah people handed out tablets with maps and historical images that we would use during the tour. I’m generally not a fan of tours but this one was being led by the very knowledgable Dr. Alanoud Al Sharekh and within the first 15 minutes I was hooked. I knew the Madeenah people were legit but the tour exceeded my expectations. All the information they shared along with the walk around Bneid Al Gar was facinating and the two hours passed by fairly quickly.

So if you’ve never been on any of their tours I would highly recommend you do. They have different kinds of tours every week and they tend to sell out pretty quick. A couple of cool things taking place this weekend. Cinemagics is playing the documentary “Amy” on the rooftop tonight. “Amy” is a great documentary on the story of Amy Winehouse and uses real mostly unseen footage throughout the film. I watched it recently and loved it even though I’m not an Amy Winehouse fan. It’s by the same director behind “Senna”, the amazing documentary on Ayrton Senna’s life which I also loved. Qout Market is also back this Saturday, in case you weren’t aware they’re no longer in Murooj but instead have moved to Salmiya near the Scientific Center at the Pearl Marzouq residential building. The new location (pictured above) is their best location yet and a lot more casual feeling than their previous ones. Check out the full list of events taking place this weekend below:

The Shakshooka Market is back this weekend and it’s my personal favorite event for this weekend. But there are other honorable mentions like the Winter Land Carnival which seems interesting (they’ve got a large outdoor ice skating rink). For the geeks over here there’s Global Game Jam 2016 taking place this weekend as well. Finally there is the Camel Classic RC Race, for those of you who aren’t aware, we actually have one of the largest off road RC tracks in the world so that event should be cool as well.

I also think there is a military event taking place near the Kuwait Towers this weekend but I haven’t been able to get any info on it. If you know something let me know but for now, check out the full list of events below:

The better the weather the more events that take place and this weekend is a prime example. A few cool things taking place this weekend with my personal favorites being the Holiday Bazaar at Pink Moon, the Ahmadi Music Group Concert the Unbirthday Picnic and the KBSC Yard Sale. KBSC is the new name for the Kuwait Little Leagues and I passed by the same event last year and loved it. You get to watch some baseball games, eat a hot dog and then check out the yard sale, a very not Kuwait like experience so I’m definitely passing by again this year. Check out the full list below:

The most interesting event taking place this weekend I think is the Top.of Market or Foug Market I’m still not sure what its called. Its a market taking place on Saturday at the top of the Arraya parking lot where Qout Market used to take place. Why I find this market interesting (or confusing) is the fact there are a bunch of different activities and workshops taking place at the same time. Weirdly, the market starts at 5AM which is kinda absurd unless you’re coming back from a late night party. The other activity I personally find interesting is the Madeenah Tour which is also taking place on Saturday. But it’s already sold out so if you didn’t book you’re out of luck.
