A lot of you might of heard about the new home business license that was supposed to be available starting August 1st (I posted about it). I went last week to the Kuwait Business Center and they informed me that it was not yet available, but should be soon. I did manage to get some more information from them that might be useful for those of you that want to start a home businesses (this information is not official yet, but I did receive it verbally from one of the managers at KBC)
1) You will be able to register for the license online
2) You will need to register an address which can be a postal code address, email or law firm office

What a joke… Why would a Kuwaiti forego social security allowance and pension payments for a startup? This appears to me to be a PR stunt to reduce Kuwaiti unemployment on paper and increase business entities in Kuwait. Kuwait gov’t has been not been meeting their Kuwaitization goals and it’s not surprising.
I guess the government is trying to prevent abuse of social allowance. They took the easy way out instead of really tackling the issue head on.
This is great! Thank you for the information
I personally have a day job, but I have an idea for a small business I want to do and I want to do it legally, so I can go through this route
Any word about the fees?
So if I leave my job in private sector and I decide not to be employed by the government just to concentrate on my home businessm then I wouldn’t get da3m 3amala?
Looks like you are correct. It makes more sense to get a government job to get a salary and work on your startup using “business hours”
The lack of da3am 3amala is such BS. I see the potential for abuse, but there’s better ways around this.
#4 is wrong.
To get the licence you have to be registered on al bab al 5ames in pifss. So you will get social security and da3m al 3amalah.
IIRC you can’t apply for a home licence if you already work (as a worker not owner) in the private setor.
