Free iPhone Bumper

Apple have started refunding customers for the bumper purchase, I just got the following email:

Dear Mark,

Apple recently announced that iPhone 4 customers who purchased an iPhone 4 Bumper are eligible for a full refund.

As of today, we have automatically processed your refund. You have also been refunded for any Shipping or VAT charges which may have been applied to your order.

If you paid via credit card, please allow 3-5 business days for the refund to reach your account.

Thank you for choosing Apple.

Im still in Japan, Mark. Im glad you think that it can be described as “sweet” that you had to pay for something because you thought enough of the problem that the phone required a bumper. Surely “sweet” would have been a properly engineered phone in the first place? like your blog btw. not just a hater.

Does this apply also to any orders made after the press conference ! Basically if i do order one today do you think that VAT will be refunded !

Thanks for the loser comment mark, actually i was just voicing my opinion. I still fail to see why youre all so excited about a refund for a defective product. Says something about Apple and their brand hungry customers that they can do that to you. Im not going to call anyone a loser, but you can see what im inferring, right>?

No, Mark, just voicing my opinion. Well thats two attempts at patronising insults in 2 posts. And I mean attempts. Grow up. I thought this blog was for relatively open discussion, not insulting the people who visit your blog because they dont agree with you. And yes, defective product!

I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I was basically calling you an idiot for calling the most succesful smart phone ever (according to facts and numbers etc.) defective. I then compared you to a stupid little kid that just likes to argue for the sake of arguing. I guess I can see how that might have sounded like an insult.

Ironic, isn’t it?. If everyone had taken the same view (i.e. it’s a great product), nobody would get that “sweet” refund. Apple gave the refund because people complained.

I don’t think 0.5 percent complainig was the reason. It was more of a PR thing than anything else. Media blew things out of proportion and apple figured this would make the media happy.

I was not talking of the 0.5 percent.

It was the people just like the people commenting negatively on this post (some not even iPhone 4 owners) whose vocal negative opinion forced Apple to do this “PR thing”.

Highlighting faults makes products better.

After yesterday post I ordered my iPhone 4 the same steps U followed. Thanks for that !! but I haven’t received any info about the VAT charges regarding refund ? And how and when they will refund me?

For those who ordered an iPhone from overseas.What is the procedure if anything should go wrong with the phone?

I bought my bumper in the Apple Store in Florida last week, just received a refund on my mastercard. This is what I call customer service!
