Kuwait based designer dresses Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj and Khloé Kardashian at the VMAs’

vmas

For Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards, Britney Spears donned an attention-grabbing, mostly sheer minidress. Not to be outdone was Nicki Minaj, who flaunted an equally eye-popping gown that landed the star on many a best-dressed list.

No, these gold body-hugging looks weren’t by red-carpet faves Atelier Versace or Givenchy. They were by a nearly unknown brand called LaBourjoisie, leaving fans asking: Who is that?

LaBourjoisie turns out is a local based brand run by 35 year old Lebanese designer Antoine Salameh. His shop in Shaab is dressing A-list celebrities located on the other side of the world. Just writing that sounded so weird, it’s insane. [Link]

Mark, the designs of La Bourjoisie’s dresses bear an eerie similarity to Youssef Al-Jasmi’s designs, don’t they?

Hmmm……well we shouldn’t be surprised, everyone tries to imitate everyone in Kuwait.

Everything’s derivative.

And seriously, how did the Kuwaiti government allow these designers to live vicariously through these A-list superstars by dressing them up in very revealing outfits?

If the celebrities were to come here wearing those Kuwaiti made outfits, they wouldn’t be able to leave the airport.

Kuwait has traditionally been a regional hub for fashion designers, so several local fashion designers have received acclaim in Western countries.

These outfits are made for the red carpet in Hollywood. Celebrities don’t wear these outfits at airports. Never seen celebrities wear such clothing in public areas, aside from the red carpet and nightclub.

They don’t wear these items per se but they do wear revealing clothes at airports.

Crop tops, shirts with a bit too much cleavage…….all of which are a definite no-no here.

So yes, it is a double standard. How can these designers be allowed to design extremely revealing outfits when crop-tops aren’t even allowed here?

Kuwait did not deport expats for wearing revealing clothing. Those women were deported for prostitution and soliciting. Go read the oroginal news report in Arabic from the Arabic newspapers. Kuwait Times and Arab Times Online are not reliable sources, they’re yellow journalism.

The original Arabic news report clearly mentions that the women were deported for what they were doing (prostitutes).
