There were 2 Kids R Us stores in Kuwait if I recall. There was the big one near Safeway down in Sulaibhikat before the war, and a smaller one on Salmiya high street.
the old huge kids r us in kwt was the best toy store in the world.
The big one was in farwaniya and they had one in fahaheel aswell.
gone are the days in which we used to look at all of the Master’s of the Universe figures with awe in the old Kids R Us! If it werent for the invasion, they’d probably still be around….I guess. Who owned that place anyways?
alghanim. after they shut down the one in farwaniya they moved to salmiya. they opened up where the caddilac showroom used to be. after they shutdown kids r us they open alghanim electronics.
now in place of kids r us in farwaniya there is SEARS.
Mark you reminded me of the nice days when I was a kid. My parents used to take me there twice or more every week.
the old one in farwaniya is now sears ..
i was tryin to find some pictures whn i saw ur question.mark..i reall miss th place.n kuwait..
The old days. Brought back a lot of memories. I could see large one in Farwania from our apartment window. It was burned down during the Iraqi invasion by the Palestinian children from Farwania localities. It was a sight to see as the a large crowd of kids was coming back to Farwania crossing the wide road in new bicycles, electric cars and toys. A plume of black smoke from the building (just behind the yellow Koala logo) in the background, with happy children in front hurrying their way back. Being a 12 year old at that time, you can imagine the pain I felt 🙂
Actually I know where to find it. 😛
I will link you as soon as I have it uploaded somewhere.
Guys, you made me feel nostalgic hearing all of this. I was also in the same age group and loved Kid’s r us a lot. Can we create a group of all of us who were there to recall all our childhood memories of kuwait. Btw i am visting kuwait next week. I will try to visit all the places that i can remember.
I still have my koala yellow doll 😀
