Men should be allowed sex slaves

I got a lot of emails regarding the political activist Salwa al Mutairi’s recent comments on how men should be allowed to have sex slaves. She even took the extra mile and brainstormed ideas on where the sex slaves could come from. Personally I think that is a terrible idea obviously and she probably lost a lot of credibility because of her statements but, it is her opinion and she is entitled to it. Actually, she s done a great service for all people of Kuwait. I witnessed a lot of discussions where all participants came united, honoring women’ s role in this society. Who would agree for his mother, sister or another relative to be engaged in such as proposal? Kuwaiti people won’t!

She is MENTALLY UNSTABLE and NEEDS to see a doctor. What she has said does not surprise me, since this is not the first time she has come up with an absurd idea. She has been mocked on a Kuwaiti TV channel and it is obvious that she is not all there. Further evidence of unstable condition can be seen on her YouTube channel. There are rumours that she has been abandoned by her family or should i say disowned and that someone is taking advantage of her unstable condition.There is also a rumor that she is married.

i really think she should have thought twice before making that comment, especially when singles out a certain nationality of women that she believes would make perfect sex slaves.

Rather than mocking her in the media (and forwarding silly text message jokes), more time should have been spent on trying to get her to see a doctor. If she had not been given media attention in Kuwait then perhaps it wouldn’t have spread all over the international media thus creating an embarrassment for Kuwait.

Actually it made me laugh! plus i was giving a sarcastic response! She has every right to express her opinion in “Free Speech” and all, but you cannot deny her statement to be idoitic and injudicious.

This is the Arab response to anything we don’t like. She did something bad? Oh she’s not really Kuwaiti. Twin towers hit by mostly Saudis? Oh it was a conspiracy arabs would never do that.

Silencing her won’t make a difference in the long run. It’s good to get peoples ideas out into the open instead of hiding everything for fear of loss of face or reputation.

There are larger issues out there and this is just the tip of the iceberg. People need to take this seriously because it’s obvious that she isn’t alone in this thought process.

Why is her citizenship in question? it it because she has an unusual idea that nobody agrees with? So for expatriates, if you don’t like it here, GTFO, and for Kuwaitis with opposing/unusual ideas, they aren’t Kuwaitis??

I’m really curious as to how she reached the conclusion that sex-slaves should be legal in Kuwait. I wonder what that first thought was, that got the ball rolling. How does any of it relate to her? What does she care what “devout, decent, and virile Kuwait men” do to satisfy their sexual needs? What does she gain from it? Why is she taking up their cause? What makes her think she’s even qualified to champion their cause?

I was telling her that she’s basically ruining Kuwait’s image in front of the whole world, and that other people are judging us because of what she said. She started laughing hysterically and said that she had the right to express her thoughts and opinions, I agreed to that and asked her nicely to consider Kuwait’s reputation before saying something stupid like that again which she responded to by saying: “Take it from me, the UK will apply the slavery idea in a couple of years!”, and then she hung up.

I thought there might be some hope for her if someone talked to her nicely and tried to show her were she went wrong.. Yeah .. I thought wrong.

I am a foreigner and trust me this women has NOT made me think less of the Kuwaiti people. Every country has an ignorant person that should be muzzled, this one happens to be yours! Don’t stress EVERYONE can see she is medically sick!

I think the editor means to say “concubine” and not sex slave. Acquiring concubines was common practice in the heyday of Islamic conquests. She is simply asking to revive the practice. So technically she didn’t say anything wrong. It is permitted by Sharia law.

I as a woman don’t have problems with the idea of sex slaves. What bothered me was how she wanted to trick poor women from outside countries into something that they would have NO CHOICE in! Essentially she wants to legalize prostitution which might keep the perverted men here instead of going abroad!

That said, I would feel much more comfortable with you and your blog if you at least edit your post and mention that she isn’t stable and basically whatever she says is meant for publicity and a few laughs. Why not sex slaves for woman!?
There are women with needs too.. instead of marrying off the first guy to propose or find the easiest guy to convince… they could resort to that… obviously she has not considered religious aspects… so why not for women?

I am baffled by how religion has blinded her sense of the most integral codes of morality. The problem here is that these headlines are what the Western media will cover about Islam. I read the comments in the link and all I saw was negative assaults on the credibility of Islam. This woman has obviously not foreseen the consequences of her action; she has distorted the name of Islam that is already been tarnished by Terrorism. How can the Western society finally embrace Muslims as one of their own when they think we accept slavery?

She says that the idea of sex slaves will keep Kuwaiti men away from the temptations of adultery. But what about Kuwaiti women? Will they be offered any similar service? After all, the “adulterous temptations” that she’s talking about is not only exclusive to men.

i know shes not the most stable woman in kuwait (DUH), however i highly doubt she used the words “SEX SLAVE”…i think the news papser failed in translating what Salwa said into english..

people already have sex slaves in kuwait, men n women both. men abusing their maids and women abusing their drivers, dont you guyz read newspaper. arab times top news are full of sex abusers. sex slaves are in kuwait salwa just put up the story on the table. I am not saying what she did is right but what ever is happening in kuwait is not right. this is a muslim country men should give respect to women and in return women should do the same.

While her argument would appear reasonable to most intelligent men, it suffers from a fatal flaw – the right to a sex-slave only applies to Muslim men. Now, if she were to amend her argument to make it a bit more universal and include all men ….

I wonder how many people who condemn this also speak out about Kuwait’s human trafficking issues.
Iamthestig has already said it, people already do this, it’s just ignored and excused (e.g., “They have it better here than in their country!”). Salwa Al-Mutairi may be despicable, but she’s not the only one.

I shudder at the thought of what would happen to male prisoners of war. Would they have to serve the gay community of Kuwait ? Or do they get the hysterical women :-/

From the Mail article- One Saudi mufti supposedly told Mutairi: ‘The context must be that of a Muslim nation conquering a non-Muslim nation, so these jawari have to be prisoners of war.’
