Pottery Barn in Kuwait

Pottery Barn is going to be opening up in the Avenues in place of where Top Shop and Top Man used to be. I’ve never been to Pottery Barn and according to the sign outside, this will be the first branch outside the States. That’s nice, but what about Home Depot? Costco? In-N-Out? Walmart?

in n out is only available in the US west coast so i think the east coast would be a priority over kuwait dont u think?

Pottery Barn is totally different than the stores you mentioned. The closest thing to it I can think of is “Zara Home” but as I remember it’s focused towards kids furniture, so yes very expensive & elegant kids furniture store.

Dude – they rock (at least in the States). Friends dedicated a whole episode to the Pottery Barn. It is a trendy/fasionable home store.

Forget Costco and Walmart – Target is the store to bring to Kuwait.

in N out (I contacted them and they are not ready for expansion, but maybe if someone like al-homathy or khorafi or al-shaia wanted I’m sure they’ll get the franchise)

Crate & Barrel rules, pottery barn is the kind of furniture you see in every movie, series and everything in between. Its not cheap either. Why dont you do a “Alshaya wish list” here so everyone can post ? Alshaya is Kuwait’s shopping genie.

Pottery Barn is a furniture store/furniture accessories… Pottery Barn KIDS is for kids furniture tho…
They have nice stuff in the US… but they’ll totally jack up the prices here.. like they do with everything else!

we don’t need a cheap store by american standards in kuwait, we got plenty of crappy alternatives.

Bestbuy should come here.

It should be a huge massive warehouse sized place where everything related to electronics to video games is under one roof.

It should have its own parking

what I really want to see Kuwait doing is investing heavily in its commucations infrastructure, AKA outfitting every home with the latest in internet techology.

Gaming is huge in Kuwait and the middle east, and in Kuwait moreso because of the heat and lack of things to do.

it keeps kids off the streets, car racing, chasing girls on the roads, and drugs too. it’s a win win situation for everyone.

also a massive paintball field where the admission and gun rental prices are not stupid expensive would be a huge plus and a huge source of revenue for whoever does it.

Cosco NO we have jumleh and Sultan Warehouse
Walmart NO WAY extremely cheap and low end
In and out – another burger joint… hummm

We need crate and barrel and William Sonoma..

I love Pottery Barn!!!! As an ex-patriate I furnished my home there years ago and the furnitue has held up well and everyone loves it when they come to visit. They offer decorating classes, design specialists, that totally work with my needs. Life is complete now!!!!

Create & Barrel is boooooooring! Pottery Barn is so much better on lifestyle accessories, those little things that turn your house into a home…
And guess what? A friend of mine who is currently working on the Pottery Barn project tells me that everybody’s going to be pleasantly surprised with their price structure. I can’t wait! When do they open???

I’ve neve bought anything from that place for my apartment here, nor I intend to. That being said, Pottery barn is a really good place to buy household goods. Kind of fake, but still not too fancy and has some creative bits and pieces. (remember the friends Pottery Barn episode? Phoebe hated that place:p) But here in NY, it’s like the MUST GO place if you just moved in, I dont really see that.

As for Al Shaya’s wish list. I say don’t lose hope, yes Al Shaya can open ALMOST anything he wants in kuwait, either franchise, license, or simply LBO that mother. BUT, he’s not the only one, every one of us can open up a franchise if he is commited enough and can show sufficient funds to back up his plan. Make it ‘Kuwait’s Wish List” just to not make the whole Monopolistic vibe the trend in K-town.

Thanks Mark.

CB2 would be amazing. See Crate & Barrel has two sister stores. CB2 is a home furnishings division geared towards more modern and colorful stuff. check out their website cb2.com and plus they have really good prices.

In-N-Out would be just as crazy as Pinkberry has been (which is also the first branch outside the US) BUT apparently people have tried to bring it and the owners are very picky and have a “West Coast only” mentality. Wallmart…I really don’t think so that place is nasty.

In-N-out is only open in Cali, AZ ;*, and NV (Vegas). They don’t intend to open any store outside of the region currently. It’s cheapm delicicous and healthy. Will it work in kuwait? Yes, ever food joint like this will work in K-town but I somehow like the exclusivity. It makes you look forward to go to the west coast ya know? something that reminds you of the PST timezone, you dig? I hope it doesn’t open in kuwait.

try and get whitecastles haha ;r

Yeh don’t make it a shaya wishlist.

Kuwait needs more opportunities for young business people. Shaya has suffocated the market and controls all the prime real estate in major malls.

Very sad

it breaks my heart to see kuwait destroyed by all those ugly chainstores- BOYCOTT THE MEGAMALLS!
those guys are becoming billionaires with their crony monopolies on the backs of real people. they are also destroying the environment and turning kuwait into a commercial wasteland. WE DONT NEED MORE SHOPS!
