BBC News have a nice piece on the state of Kuwait’s theatre industry. Gone are the golden days of plays like Bye Bye London but there are a few people who are still trying to bring the theatre back. I really hope they can, like New York is known for Broadway Shows, Kuwait could be known for theatre as well. I couldn’t embed the video on my blog so you’re going to have to view it on the BBC website [Here]
Thanks Nibaq

No matter what.. I don’t think the golden days can be achieved nowadays, Abdulhussain was in a class of his own.. even his comebacks couldn’t takeover his old work.
By Bye London was the first piece of theatre I ever saw when I came to Kuwait many years ago and even tho’ I couldn’t understand a wrd of Arabic then, the whole slapstick humur made me laugh my socks off.
I wish we had a really good theatre, Londn style where we could head off to on a Friday night….Les Miserables…Mama Mia…Blood Brothers…
I wish it will be revived! it would be a dream come true!
The problem is.. society isn’t in to theater stuff!
I agree with “fishma!” It would offer culture as well as another form of entertainment to the community. Many plays/shows don’t involve profanity/sex/nudity, so it would be perfect for Kuwait! 🙂
I’ve often wished i could take my kids to the theatre and see a classic- my Dad used to take us to the theatre at least once a year.
There’s no point
It will be cut and censored blah blah till the only thing that is allowed is the crap and shit that you see now.
@meh, not everything needs to be censored….
