The Kuwait Youth Council

Yesterday the first steps to creating a Kuwait Preparatory Youth Council which will be made up of young Kuwaiti youth and be part of the local government was announced. In preparation for the creation of this council, NGO’s from around Kuwait were asked to put forward a list of names of their best people who could help out on this project. In total 40 people were chosen from a variety of background and ages and they have now been given the task to find out what the Kuwaiti youth need and expect from their country. They will be spending the next few months meeting people and surveying them and based on the answers they get they will have to come up with ideas and projects.

In November a conference is going to be held where these ideas and projects are going to be shared with the Emir who will then give a go ahead on them. Following the conference a Kuwaiti Permanent Youth Council will be created to monitor and make sure the projects are being worked on and executed properly. If for some reason an approved project is not being executed, the permanent Youth Council will have direct contact with the Emir to inform him of the problems so that he could intervene and get things moving again.

I don’t think there has ever been a Kuwait Youth project so I’m actually pretty excited to see what comes out of this. The youth generally have a lot more energy and ideas than the adults which is why I’m interested to see what they will be proposing. Same shit.

The hand picked those youth based on their last names, family businesses, and family bank accounts, and probably even religious powers.

They may reflect age range… but they roles and goals will continue to reflect their elders.

Get real, this is Kuwait.

This whole country is negative. I see no hope for progress or decent living in the coming future.

What saddens me is that I’m still young, and I will have to live on through all the mess that will take place because of the retard actions taking place today.

Kuwait reality now has become “keep them busy” and by them they mean us the insignificant normal citizen. Unfortunetley, they are not keeping us busy by spreading science or art or even entertainment… they are keeping us busy by making life so difficult.

One very simple example… I’m 28, I want to do PhD… something that should be harmless to everyone… yet I had to meet with two ministers, four undersecretaries, countless number of government official, several chairmen of scientific bodies in Kuwait, and couple of journalists… YET STILL I was not allowed to go and study! Why?

Simply because… they want us to be busy.
If I’m not busy running around trying to finish my study permit, my home issue that the prime minister people visit with their tractors, my personal electronics held at customs because of monopoly laws in Kuwait, and this unhealthy work place that has become unhealthy because of government strategy.

all of this…
Which I could have forgotten about if I could surf the net freely and watch some viral videos, funny pictures, or whatever… and then BAM… internet filter is filtering the hell out of internet and google search results.

And when you try to rant about it… you get the ‘night visitors’ which Kuwait used to pride itself for not having them!

So, this was my rant of the day. Sorry for all of the negativity.

Sounds exactly what Kuwait is all about! Reason for you meeting all those people for an education is because they are all relatives in the same tribe and all want to find a way to make KD on you somehow. New Kuwait!

I understand what you’re saying, but do you have any idea how lucky you are to have a government that gives you a scholarship to study abroad and even a salary while you’re doing it? Did you get your bachelor’s and master’s degree that way? If so, you should be saying alhamdulillah. (And the conditions for getting those scholarships are not at all stringent.)

Do you know how many people around the world can’t afford a college education? Or have to sacrifice – and have their family sacrifice – to do it? Do you know how many American students graduate owing tens (or even hundreds) of thousands of dollars in student loans?

If any country has the money to support their citizens then they should. Thats not the issue.

The issue is that we have endless amounts of money and nothing is being improved and we so much corruption.

I agree with you 110%!. Mashallah you posted exactly what I was thinking and what I usually try to explain to people on these blogs.

It seems there are very few people like us who not only understand the reality of kuwait, but more importantly are not afraid to express and discuss the facts.

Well, i don’t know 3azeez, i have only lived in Kuwait for a year and a half so maybe haven’t grown as negative as you.The idea of a Kuwait Youth Council sounds good to me and the fact that they have contact with the Emir has got to be good as well.Every little step helps 3azeez…..

Best of luck to them! But which youth they going to target ? the ones which we witness fighting in malls? I really hope they come up with something encouraging !!!

In reply to aziz,

Ur wrong, There are all kinds of names in that youth project a friend who’s a part of the council told me she did not recognize so many last names and they we’re picked based on their accomplishments, clubs joined/activities small business created by their OWN self.. And so on.. No one asked because his/her dad’s name bala kharabee6 awalshay e3rif who the ppl are ba3dain judge

My god this is something good why don’t you just accept the good lazim en’alif ashua’ mo zaina?

On what bases are you claiming this is “good”?

Is it because people which you know where selected?

Good comes with results, results needs action… What actions did they take so far?

They will not be able to accomplish anything without the “elders” support.

Kuwait problem is with the “elders” method of managing things.

By elder I refer to the current generation of men and women overseeing the country, starting from NGOs to Government bodies and others.

Face reality, those youth are only a front, a mask, a cover, a packing, a layer…. something different you put on something old… they are not expecting them to voice, they are not expecting them to reflect… they are only expecting them to lobby.

As for the business you’re referring to…
try to remember 3adil who publicized it and for what reason. Then tell me it started on its own.

3azeez you’re very much realistic and not negative at all, I support your rant of the day. I thought the “elders” were called “dinosaurs”

I think this is a great step towards improvement towards this country. But I couldn’t find the names of the council members. Is there a site that lists the names?

At first on reading this news I was thrilled to know something productive is happening in a stagnant state like Kuwait, and especially giving a forum for the youth where they can voice they’r opinions and pave the way for Kuwaits future…. that was indeed splendid !! I have always and yet continue to strongly believe in the power of the youth. It is always necessary to consider new blood to improve society and contribute to the development of ones country. Having said this I was a bit disappointed after reading 3azeez’s comments, clearly he does have an indepth inside view of the situtaion whereas we as expats would not really know what goes on behind the print.
I do hope your wrong this time 3azeez, for the betterment of everyone in Kuwait, the present and the future, the citizens as well as the residents of this country. Lets stay positive and hope for a brighter future.

This is just another redundant government committee. Youth who want to start a project can start a project by their own will and dedication. There is nothing in Kuwait that is stopping them from doing so. There is no need for government sponsorship, encouragement and pampering. The problem with Kuwaiti youth is that they want to be the “ideas” people… but they want it easy, they want someone else to do their “ideas” for them.
