Things to do in Kuwait

I decided am going to create a new category on the blog called “Activities” or “Things to do”. I was discussing with Nat the other day about the activities available in Kuwait and we were going through the comments left on the blog and she brought up the point that there are more male activities than female activities and that most of the cool activities are outdoor and so pretty useless during the hot summer days. I don’t think that’s true and this is why I want to start gathering activities and start posting them on the blog. I already have a lot of activities in mind but please if you know of an activity that you think I might not be aware of please leave a comment below or [Email Me]

Activity 1 : Sleep for 12 hrs a day . . . every day . :I

Activity 2 : get a gun , real one , shoot yourself of boredom :I

Activity 3 : eat , eat , eat until your ass get doubled :I

Activity 4 : fart all day :I

Activity 5 : girls stalks boys , boys wants girls , man cheats , women complains :I

Be realistic, what activities ? Very few things to do in summer. And also, there’s nothing for girls to do except go to the malls. Also, all these activities are too expensive to do frequently.

Activities for Guys,
1- Beach (Fishing, Swimming, Jet Ski)
2- Chalet (’nuff said)
3- Bowling (Overpriced)
4- Gym (Needs some will power)
5- Malls/Restaurants/Movies (Yes, one category)
6- Paint Ball (Not everyones cup of tea)
7- Football
8- Basketball
9- “insert here”ball

Sure you might thing, “there you go, pick an activity”, but here is the real problem: how to get there ?. Very few Kuwaiti citizens live close to these places, and due to traffic it might take about one hour just to get there. Expats on the other hand live in commercial areas, right next to the centers of entertainment.

Activities for girls
1- Malls/Restaurants/Movies (Again, one category)
2- Gym (Mostly older women)
3- You’d be kidding your self if you told a Kuwaiti girl to take up a sport during summer. (Most of the time)

“…Since Kuwait City lies close to the water, there are many different types of water sports that both locals as well as visitors enjoy. Some of those activities are boating, diving, and fishing.

One of the reasons that all types of boating are popular pastimes in the waters near Kuwait City is that there are nice breezes, but the water is rarely always remains relatively calm. Kuwait is home to many different boating clubs with marinas. These clubs host boating activities, races, and other types of recreational boating excursions.

There are reefs that lie off the shores of Kuwait which are home to all sorts of marine life. Many people like to scuba dive in the waters, despite the fact that there has been some pollution in the area due to the Iraqi army setting fires to oil wells in Kuwait during the Gulf War, which resulted in oil spills in the waters.

Fishing is a popular sport in the water, and some of the most popular types to be caught are mackerel, tuna, snapper, catfish, and shark. Fishing can be accomplished either off of the deck of a boat, by staying on shore and releasing a line into the water while sitting on a pier, or by using a fishing net….”

What a great service to the community, Mark! Thanks for caring enough to create this new category. I know it is going to be a great resource.

Go to the Mayadeen Shooting Range.

VOLUNTEER. There are tons of nonprofit organizations that could use your help. My two favorites: Animal Friends League/K’S PATH and Bayt Abdullah Children’s Hospice. But there are volunteer opportunities for anything you care about.

Thanks Mark and Nat… and while Kuwait isn’t the hotbed of excitement we wish it was, it’s still not as bad people like “shosho in red hot pants” make it sound

The thing is, anything that requires the slightest bit of physical activity or using one’s brains is immediately shunned by most people

cruising malls, gulf street, love street, malls, hang out in cafes and eat out. that’s a realistic answer.

Great idea you should mention kuwaits island hopping we have corals by garoo that are georgeous for snorkling

Where one can rent water activity equipment, boating, jet ski from a professional commercial place? Not those guys renting jet skis next to mc donald, i can’t trust them with the maintenance of equipment and safety.

OMG yes! this is ledgendary…. they only play like one song- partyrock by lmfao… and that bitches voice pisses me off

i love your idea mark…we need a source to publicize activities when special events take place..
cuz i think the main problem is that even if there are different things to do…their frequency and availability might be limited…and thats why you might not hear about it on time…or not at all…

1- Driving up and down the gulf road harassing ugly girls with inflated hijabs.

2- Going to malls and harassing ugly girls with inflated hijabs.

3- Going to empty parking lots and doing donuts aimlessly.

LOL at ‘shosho’ and ‘MSM’
Women can join dance classes which usually is twice a week;
Learn some musical instrument or voice-training classes – classes are usually twice a week; Spend a day at the saloon/spa once a week;
Go to gym or a sports center thrice a week
Enjoy house parties or at chalets or travel to DUBAI/Bahrain/ or any of the neighbouring countries or just chill with friends at a cafe/bowling/ice skating/rock climbing/billiards/shopping/etc on weekends…
Doing ALL of the above keeps me busy and content every week.

Finally, some took this lead to do so I think this the right to see what we really can do in Kuwait specially in simmer time, wherether is sport events, social, or art. This will be very usefull not just for citizens but also travelors and specially for because I like to make memories through my lense.
Goodluck

Mark, it’s a great idea πŸ™‚
Could you post any activities that won’t cost much? Some of us are too broke to do the expensive stuff.

Well well well ,, there r tons of things to do.. We just need to look around .. It is not that boring as sooo many ppl r saying,, but it is the problem of bored ppl themselves i guess,, i might suggest the varied training courses that kuwait university offers ,, or follow the brilliany idea of “Haitham” about volunteering and u won’t pay a penny!

Plus stop saving money for i dunno what and spend it on urself,, u deserve πŸ™‚

Does anyone know where we can do rock climbing or rappell or any of this type of activity ? is it available in kuwait …?
i’m new in kuwait but what i discovered that there is planty of activity to do,sports is the main one (not expensive) πŸ™‚ but there is also billiard πŸ˜‰

good job and always keep up the good work πŸ™‚
i think marine activities are no. 1 here in summer, tanning but not sure about swimming after Mishrif thing, offroading is a great idea , shooting paint ball, going to scientific center (love that place) , dish parties ,

Actually there are quite a few things to do in Kuwait:

1- Paintabbling is one enjoyable activity
2- Renting 4*4’s in the desert was a favourite pass time especially at night
3- Entertainment city, now i know what you will say but it’s damn good fun when your with friends
4- Shooting range
5- Going to the beach
6- Exploring the hundreds of cool restaurants all around
7- Walking
8- Cycling at night / when the weather is right

You can never say there is nothing to do, it might be more difficult from one place to the other but it is not impossible πŸ˜‰

U can go 2 fentas where u can play golf there i tried it it was awesome maybe for 3K.D and if u wana play real golf its n SAHARA for 40 k.d

Sabah alahmad MaritimeΒ City near khiran rezort i heard there is some places opened n i was there once n its gona be the best place ever

I totally agree with the very first commet, right on u nailed it !!! I wonder how people can be so naive in listing all the possible unwanted things that one would wanna do. who the hell would wanna go spend time in the most volatile weather country on the beach or parks or watver, or spend time watching ancient history (and experience zero emotion), or malls to make one feel like shit coz u cant buy em all, or restaurants who do nothing but add up to your calories and the bill. Or movies where 110% is already censored before it reaches the screen. Outdoor sports?? cut me some slack here pls

GUys I’d like to be realistic ….. there is nothing to do in Kuwait !!!! Just eat drink (again no liquor) and die like nobody’s business which actually is the case !

Swimming…in pools!
Resorts
Horse riding
Weaving courses at Sadu House
Arabic lessons at Aware Centre
Islamic lessons

the beach ,aqua park ,jetskiing ,billiards ,rock climbing, sha3ab park ,entertainment city , malls,5aleej street, donuts in every wet floor ya c πŸ˜› .. add 50 more activitis 2 those still wont b enough if ya livein kuwait more then 20 years πŸ˜› ive tried it lol ! its been a year so far that i travel 2 dubai every 2 weeks once n stay their for 2 days its a small country as well but way much fun activitys !

Mark, this is a wonderful idea. You should make a list that’s constantly updated whenever you discover something new. That would be very useful.

OJ, I love how all the activities you listed for guys only work for girls as well, but for some reason you fail to notice that.

Yes there is many many activities to do in the lovely Kuwait summer, for instance: try to ride the public busses especially the once that dosn’t have AC,also try to take a hike in Jeleeb Al Shoyukh and you will feel that you are some where in Bangaladesh, also you could hange loose in Murgab streets then you will know how Kandahar looks like. finally I advice all to Go to Women market then you don’t need to go to Basra market.

I sort of laugh at the mention of watersports. What about that tiny issue of excrement leakage? Once after swimming @ Marina, my son got a nasty rash all over his body and my daughter who accidentally ingested some seawater got an infection that landed her in the hospital for 3 days.

1) Eat
2) Drink
3) Shop
4) Put tons of make up and go to the mall to Eat, Drink, Shop and ofcourse buy more make up and clothes so you can go to the mall wearing that to eat drink and shop.

5) Play ball games. (Refrain from playing with yourself in public!)

6) Drive up n down gulf road and burn petrol.

7) Throw ur fone no at girls/boys at traffic lights and chase girls

8) MY PERSONAL FAV – watch KTV 2….it rocks!!!

9) Complain about the weather!

10) Read blogs…. e.g mark248am1.wpenginepowered.com πŸ˜›

Let’s be real here!! There’s no activity what so ever for GIRLS!!! It’s so boring here!! Um a teenager and every day I’m so turned apart about where should I go especially with my friends!! And I end staying at HOME do you realize How BORING this is!! ALL THE FUN AND ENJOYABLE ACTIVITIES ARE FOR BOYS!!!!!! :(((( Please Find Some Thing For Us Girls!!

there r a lot of things to do i agree…but there are a lot of rude and mean people also that may spoil ur day…u know exactly what i mean so i wont give horrific details…

Lots of really spoiled & pessimistic people on this site. Kuwait has plays, cinemas, museums, amusement parks, the science center, malls, bowling alleys, restaurants, beaches, resorts, spas, sporting events, sports clubs, golf clubs, horseriding clubs, pools, and a ton of other stuff and y’all think it’s boring? I’m from south carolina: we haven’t even a fraction of what they have here and the town closes down after sunset. I can’teven go to a restaurant after 8

the only difference between Kuwait and most places in America is the presence of bars & nightclubs and there are plenty of illegal parties with alcohol in kuwait to make up for that for the non Muslims & Muslims who dont care. Kuwait has more than the vast majority of American towns and cities

spoiled spoiled spoiled people – man! Stop complaining and go out & live

hey guys, do have an idea where they teach swimming and music intruments for beginners in kuwait for people from england or india or america ??? please tell me. am a teen and sincerely bored

A colleague told me about Aware center that organises events and tours for expats. They also offer Arabic classes for those who are interested.
So if you want to socialise and do something different (other than shopping, going to restaurants …etc.), check out their website.
