Only go to East Harlem if you want to relive an episode of The Wire.

I once accidently went to an uncharted area either in the bronx or brooklyn.. I can’t remmeber… similar to east harlem…

“They” did nothing 😛

My friend tells me its cuz of the beard that I had… i believe I was stereotyped in that matter.

Go everywhere you fucking can. You will see more interesting things. If in a more dangerous area just try not to have a lot of money in your pocket in case you get mugged. And hold on tight to your camera if someone trys to run and grab it off of you. Nothing like telling a good old mugging story!

oh come on . . . Spanish Harlem isn’t THAT bad. Afterall, it’s home to the Museum of the City of New York.

This is a pretty ignorant post. You saw some Black and Hispanic people..so the area has to be a haven for violence and drug dealing? When you perpetuate silly stereotypes, you can’t can’t complain when Arabs are discriminated against.

LOL Mark. Have you Still got your Camera? -Didn’t see a picture with this Blog Entry…;) Damn Aswads..;P

As Harlem native and once avid reader, I find this post to be very stereotypical. NYC is full of ghettos but usually if you don’t bother anyone nobody would bother you. There lots of cool places to visit in Spanish Harlem (East Harlem) that are cool. You would be amazed to note that lots of Arabs live in Harlem and we get along pretty well with them. In fact we will treat you better than those people in midtown. You see their hatred for you is at an all time high yet you strive to be so much like them. So please just chill.

wow chill people, didn’t say anything about violence or gang rapes or the fact I was attacked or mugged. The only reason I compared it to The Wire is because I saw someone buying drugs off another person exactly like on The Wire. I found it pretty funny hence the post. I went there because they have this new huge ass Best Buy that I wanted to check out.

Thx for the clarification….while in Harlem you may want to try some of the west african restaurants along 116th street,Spoonbread and Chicken Charlies…..There used to be a great burger joint but has since folded…Also there is a fish and chips spot on 125 street you should check out for sweets check out bake my cake and try the sweet potato cheescake…also two things if you have to try are Katz in the Village or actually i think its little italy, and the Chinese Ice Cream Factory in Chinatown….
