Great deal on the Alpine iXA-W407

The Alpine iXA-W407 which I posted about a few days ago is supposed to sell for around $750 but for some reason it’s being sold for just $379 on Amazon right now. I’m sure its a mistake so I quickly placed an order for one. If you’re interested in it here is the [Link]

Update: I purchased the unit twice and both times the seller canceled my order. Did this happen to anyone else?

Update2: Price is back up now to $550. I placed an order for the fourth time and it seems to have worked now. $550 is still a good deal. I ordered the following items so far for my Toyota FJ install:

Alpine iXA-W407 Digital Media Station
Alpine HCE-C107D Rear View Camera
Peripheral PTR7 Multi control interface bypass module
Scosche TA2076B 2007 Toyota FJ ISO/Double DIN With Pocket Kit
Stereo Wire Harness Toyota FJ Cruiser 07 2007

The PTR7 will allow me to change the system settings and watch movies while the car is in motion and not just parked.

Update: I originally purchased the Scosche adapter for the Toyota FJ Cruiser but it turned out to be really crap and wouldn’t fit the stereo right. I ended up installing the Alpine using the Metra adapter which worked out a lot better. Here is a link to it on Amazon. [Link]

hey there mark,
you’ll probably get a flow of questions regarding fitting certain car models, so how can i know if it would fit my vehicle ?
thanks

fitting guide:

u need to now what’s ur car head unit (HU) size. (single or double din).

aftermarket head units usually comes either in single or double.

for example, the above HU is a double din.

OK guys to install it in your car its very simple, you need two things:

1) Mounting bracket
2) Wiring harness

Mounting Bracket
This fits into the space where your old radio is and then you mount your new radio into it. For example the FJ radio spot is wider than this alpine unit so the alpine won’t fit without this mounting brakcet

Wiring harness
So you don’t cut your wires up and solder them together which would mean you cant go back to stock if you want, the wiring harness allows you to connect your new stereo to the factory wires.

Now I ordered the following along with my FJ
https://www.amazon.com/Stereo-Harness-Toyota-Cruiser-installation/dp/B000KL19C2/
https://www.amazon.com/Scosche-TA2076B-Toyota-Double-Pocket/dp/B0014JE33Q/

Best way to know if your car fits a certain stereo go to http://www.crutchfield.com and choose to outfit your car. Once you set your car up and choose a radio you can see what parts they recommend you get to fit it into your car. It’s very easy to install.

fadibou, only frequencies used in the States are the “odd” numbers (1,3,5,7,9).
when u scroll through FM u can only have a search steps of 0.2 values!!! sound complicated?

u can tune the radio to 101.1/101.3/101.5/…etc but not 101.0/101.2/101.4

u can’t set the frequency to 88.8,, u’r solution is to listen to 88.7 or 88.9

hope that clears things…

thanks Mark and Vampire for the clarifications.
I had the same problem with the seller so i bought it from ebay for 650$.

The seller just listed it for $550. I sent an email to Amazon to complain because i’ve had my order canceled 3 times for no reason. Will wait and see what they have to say.

I think most current digital radios you can set the frequency stepping for US or Euro .
you can check the manual before you buy .

The PTR7 will allow me to change the system settings and watch movies while the car is in motion and not just parked.

and you blast other drivers for car accidents..

not being a hater and all but that’s a big no-no
