Jazeera Airways tricked me

Me and Nat just got to our Jazeera Airways gate and noticed they were boarding people onto the plane. I thought that was weird since it was like 50 minutes ahead of time. Nat wanted to get coffee I told her we didn’t have time they were boarding the flight.

We checked into our gate, gave them our boarding pass and they then led us into a very tiny over crowded room located just before the door to the plane. I was like WTF? Turns out they weren’t boarding the passengers just making it look like they were boarding to the people who were still outside the gate. We were tricked!

So we are standing in this tiny over crowded room with barely any seating while right outside this door lied the main boarding lounge for the gate. How messed up, they herded us all into this tiny room just so it looks like we are boarding so people would come in. I am really pissed. I told the Jazeera guy I was going to be outside getting coffee, he took my boarding pass and kept it with him. Now they can basically leave without me.

This is really a cheap ass move by Jazeera Airways. Can’t believe they are still shoving more people into that tiny room its really packed!

I thought all airlines did that. They basically start boarding 1 hour before the departure so that people can clear through the final security check point (some people buy wierd stuff at the duty free). You then wait for 20-30 minutes in the boarding room before they haul your ass to the airplane.

Normally I wait until the last minutes to enter these boarding lounges, however Jazeera often leave earlier than the scheduled time if they manage to get everyone on board early!!

I dont think i was clear in my post cuz i was in a hurry. Basically you usually go into the boarding lounge and wait right? And then they open the door and you go into a small room where they rip the boarding pass and u get on the plane. Well with Jazeera what happened is that they put everyone in that tiny room where they rip the tickets.. not the actual boarding lounge…

hey mark,, there’s a reason behind that,, jazeera airways trying to make money in every way they can,, while the plane is staying in the airport,, they are changed for the that, so they try to fly as early as they can to minimize the expence on them…

someone mentioned that u chose the cheap flight,, jazeera airways is one of the most expensive airways u can find if you’re booking at the same day of your flight

And even without all the frills, and even if you book 1 month in advance, they don’t work out that cheap either.
The listed ticked price looks attractive, but once you start adding up all the taxes, you will be better off with a local carrier.

Well that is the case with most low cost airlines. Ryanair has the same policy.

soo true

hmmm, dude, I think we were in the same room together if we both left on the 27th morning!

We were so early that we were the first in the room and got seats at least!

I don’t think it’s just the Jezeera Airways! It’s happened with me with British, Malev, Czech, Royal Jordan and FinnAir! They just want to make sure every one is ready to board because when they board only 30 mins before they get so delayed because some one has to smoke or finish thier coffee. You get my point??

Actually it never happened to me, even with Jazeera airways. But I was thinking that maybe they needed to use that same gate for a different aircraft which would be flying at almost the same time or a little after Jazeera’s flight

Happened to me on Gulf and Kuwait airlines departing from London Heathrow for Bahrain and Doha respectively.

I guess its normal practice to do this.

A bit of warning for travelers of jazeera Airways! I had the stupidity of traveling by this airline in July 2007.I have not seen any airline so traveler unfriendly.Even if you are three and travelling on normal fare, you can’t have anything more than 60kg (3*20kg) in your checked in luggage. Not even 1 Kg extra. So get the luggage checked with a precision meter!!! One bigger headache, even handbag and camera bag is considered as cabin luggage and you can carry only one per person. Thank goodness we had no umbrellas with us!!! Anyway I decided never ever to travel by this cheap airline.

My experience with Jazeera was no good either. We travelled from Mumbai to Muscat vis Dubai where we had a transit of just over an hour in the morning of 3rd Aug 2007. They cancelled the connecting flight to Muscat & we were stuck up at Dubai Airport for 12hrs. The Jazeera ground staff was discorteous and we were left without a single drop of water to drink and no food. We had to virtually fight (verbal tiffs) with the Jazeera staff to get our lunch coupons for the waiting transit passengers. In the evening before we boarded the flight to Muscat we went to the Jazeera staff to make sure our baggages were boarded in the aircraft to which he reaffirmed us a number of times in the affirmative. Lo behold ! on our arrival at Seeb Int’l Airport at Muscat none of our baggages arrived. We have received 2 of our baggages till now in installments and 2 are still missing even after 8 days of our arrival in Muscat. I’ll never advise anybody to travel by Jazeera.
