Stuck in Washington

united

I missed my flight to Kuwait a few hours ago because my connecting flight was delayed. I took the picture above as I was stepping off the plane, my flight to Kuwait had just backed away from the gate and was getting ready to taxi to the runway. I missed my flight and was pretty upset. I was supposed to be back in Kuwait later today because tomorrow I was supposed to fly out to Abu Dhabi for a CTS V test drive event at Yas Marina but thats not happening now. The next available direct flight back to Kuwait is October 3rd since the flights for the next two days are all fully booked. So I’m stuck in Washington now for 3 days.

Then it hit me. I’m stuck in Washington for 3 days, that’s not a bad thing. I hear its really humid in Kuwait now so don’t think I’m missing much.

Its so humid here… 93%… You might miss a thing but I am sure everything happen for a reason 🙂 Hope you have fun there… Did they book a hotel for you by the way ?

You could have switched your route to Dubai instead of Kuwait and went straight to AD…United has daily flights to Dubai!

you’re screwed man. your right in the target of the Hurricane coming your way. go visit the “Wall”
Vietnam veterans memorial..

Your in Dulles. That place is dull.

Go have fun in DC. I would take some time to see the Smithsonian museums there.

Have a good one.

One is not “stuck” in Washington. One can be “stuck” in Kuwait, but one is not stuck in Washington, which has world-class museums (Smithsonian, NASM, the National Gallery, etc.), impressive monuments and some fine food.

Do u have insurance? If you do, then u should keep all receipts of every transaction u make there so that your insurance company can give you your money.

The correct way to express that sentiment is:
I have an extra 3 day reprieve before being stuck in Kuwait again.

Go have a drink with John Boehner 🙂
Go have a good meal at Philos Bar 🙂
Go to a strip club
And keep an eye on Hurricane Joaquin if you’re considering driving.
Safe travels!

I live in DC, its an awesome city!! Make sure to try out Cava Mezze Grill, a greek chipotle knock off thats so much better!

its on my to do list but not sure i can make it. have a long to do list in the morning and then wanna hit NJ so I could check out some of the sopranos locations and then atlantic city boardwalk before heading back to washington.

hey.. last friday (Sept 25th), the united flight was cancelled (after being stuck on the plane for 3 hours because of a problems with an emergency light). We got scheduled for the next day on an extra flight. United did give me about $300 in vouchers though…

Check out Sticky Fingers on Park Rd. It’s a vegan bakery/eatery but has the best non-veganesque vegan food I’ve ever had.
There’s a Chipotle right across the street if you’re disappointed.
DC is an awesome city, take advantage.

I’m planning to go to Toronto and their times fit the best… Mark how was your in-flight experience in general? Is it a comfortable airline choice to the US?

Well I flew premium economy and I don’t want to know what their regular economy is if that’s there premium one. Also if your bag is 1lbs overweight or 20lbs overweight you pay $200. I had to remove a bottle of shampoo from my bag so I didn’t have to pay $200. Their planes are also old but staff were friendly and they fly direct to the States so that’s a plus. Their business class seemed very claustrophobic as well.

So I booked and guess what ! Since I’m not an American, I have to go through passport security and collect my luggage and re-check in to my Toronto flight ! They told me this while I inquired about my carry on baggage allowance !
Good news I have a valid US visa, bad news I don’t know if there will be time to catch my second flight !
Screw this !

It has nothing to do with the fact you’re not American, everyone on my flight had to do that. We got off the plane, took our bags, passed through customs and then dropped off our bags again before heading to our gates. It’s quick process.

Well the guy asked about my nationality and having the visa before he gave me the news… It is weird since as you may know most other countries you go only through security check of your carry on and straight to the gates of your transferred flight. It’s not normal to stamp your passport in while you’re on a transit flight !

It is normal in the states. You transfer from international terminal to local ones so you have to go through customs. Local flights and airports don’t have immigration so that processes is done at the international terminals.

Come to think of it the process was fast for me because Canadians use the same lines as Americans and the processes is quick cuz we use a machine. So it would take longer for non Americans / Canadians but don’t think by that much. I mean by the time the bags started coming out most of the people on my flight had gone through immigration.
