A reader sent me the Kuwait timelapse he did above in which he used three Canon cameras, a 5DMKII, a 7D and a 60D to create. He also used a Kessler Crane Philip Bloom Pocket Dolly although I’m not sure if he had to move the camera manually or if it was automated using a motor and controller. It took him around 3 months of shooting which resulted in 40,000 shots and it then took him a month to edit the video.
Not all the scenes in the video above look great since the dull sky wasn’t helping but the ones that do work end up working really well. [YouTube]
Update: Below is a shot of his setup. Based on the shot his dolly was motorized.
Thanks Ali

That’s very impresive. Should be used as a showcase for Q8.
Absolutely. It should be incorporated in promo videos at all Kuwait Embassies… KAC flights etc
That dolly setup is super impressive.
Wonderful Wonderful
He had done great job.
Amazing job very well done
Beautiful and very original. A job very well done.
Although I would have preferred if the music was something traditional. Just a thought ..
Brilliant. Just brilliant.
awesome! well done ..

I second that.. really great film, but Kuwaiti folk music (just instrumental with no voices if you want) would add some more authenticity.
Well made! Well done!
Phenomenal job, mashallah. Loved the set-up. The scenery was gorgeous. Kuwait looked beautiful.
Very nice effort from the photographer side, but I would have loved to see all this time go into better locations. I’m no expert in time laps, but from reading around and basic attempts, I think it would have been better to try to capture slow moving objects rather than still or fast (cars) I give him credit for trying and would love to see a better attempt at it.
let this be a motivation for him https://vimeo.com/22439234
goosebumps…
Finally someone used the Sunshine OST in a proper way in “Kuwait”. The video was great, although he was switching pretty fast from one scene to another, and hopefully he’d capture more of the congested streets at night from a high point of view. Other than that it was the best time-lapse I’ve seen for Kuwait.
Mashallah. Gawak allah.
Simply beautiful! Fantastic Job, well done!
Baraka Kuwaiti style.
Superlative in every sense. This is why I love my home, sweet, Kuwait! So blessed to be a guest of this dynamic country.
