I hadn’t noticed this before but there is a huge mural covering the graveyard wall in Kuwait City right after JW Marriott hotel. The mural depicts life in Kuwait in the past. I recorded the whole thing on video which you can watch above. [YouTube]

waw..this is seriously awesome!
i bet it took ages!!
i love the way it just flows into it..
love it
Nice!
lovely, goes on and one.
I can’t imagine the amount of work it took to plan something like this
Definitely an improvement over the sterile wall it once was.
Isn’t there a law or something that dictates that a cemetery can be converted to other use after a period of 30 years after the last burial? I’ve heard that a few times from different people and if that’s the case, why doesn’t the area around the JW Marriott get redone?
Or better yet, renovate the exterior of the JW Marriott along with the rest of the Salhiya Complex. If the cemetery can be turned into a garden or something useful down the line, awesome. Other than that, I’m willing to live with a modernized hotel that isn’t turd brown and showing major signs of age.
LOVE IT <3
u should be given the kuwaiti citizenship
aziz i didn’t paint this, just video taped it
lovely painting, actually i was there once when the guy painting the wall, it was a 1 1/2 years ago. it was amazing how he merge past & present.
love the transition
Amazing
i used to see this wall everyday for 4 years as my office was right across the street – brings back some memories – i always told people who visited me and joked about the cemetery view that i don’t mind it at all, it’s a daily reminder that being on this side of the wall is a real blessing!
This is a breathtaking, beautiful storytelling mural. I wonder why we never heard or read about it in the media. I believe people behind such achievements must be recognised and credited somehow.
I think U’ve been seing this for almost 5 years now and thinking Kuwait doesn’t have many flowers like that … atleast not by the seaside. But I love it.
