First A380 coming to Kuwait

In honor of Kuwait’s National Day, Emirates is going to fly an A380 into Kuwait on the 26th of February. The A380 is the humongous double decker plane that has nearly 400 economy seats, 76 business class and 14 first class. I’ve never been on one before but a friend of mine did and told me it’s incredibly huge, they even have showers on board. Emirates won’t be adding the A380 on their Kuwait Dubai route anytime soon but it’s still a nice gesture from them. The Kuwait Airport has been A380 ready since the end of last year. [Link]

Pretty cool of them. I heard they charge more to fly in it, than in the normal 777 on long routes, even in the economy seats. So are they going to let me people take a tour of the inside?

Is there a limit on how much water they can use to shower? Imagine running out of hot water because someone else spent an hour taking one!

I see them all the time here in Toronto, our office is close to the airport so they fly over our building all the time.

Don’t just view it, FLY it:

“Emirates flight EK857 will depart Dubai at 14:55 on 26th February and will arrive in Kuwait at 15:40 the same day. The return flight, EK858, will depart Kuwait on 26th February at 18:10 arriving in Dubai at 20:40 the same day. The mammoth aircraft can accommodate 489 passengers with 399 in Economy Class, 76 in Business Class and 14 in First Class.”

just cuz the Kuwait Int’l Airport has been A380 ready since end of last year doesn’t mean Kuwait will be receiving them on a regular basis anytime soon. The Parliament is doing a good job of keeping Kuwait from growing and expanding its horizons.

Flew on it 6 times last one was from JFK to DXB last week amazing and yes they do have showers for first cabins must be booked in advance, and they also have two bars or lounges one in the front for the first class and one in the back for the business class they are only on the second floor as the entire first floor is economy class. Great and comfortable plan on long flight very smooth (:

That’s strange, I just checked an hour back… a 2-way economy, going to Dubai on 26th on the A380, returning next day was only 70kd!

Business and 1st Class were not available 🙁

By the way, I already went to the airport last week to ask them about photographing the A380 (it was announced about two weeks ago). The CAA said that unless I was a journalist I wouldn’t be allowed to photograph it. Perhaps we can all petition to go as a photography club, as the officer said that we can appeal to the supervisor in charge and they might make an exception.

Also, it’s not so strange to have them fly it here. Local airlines often do crew orientation and training on local routes. Qatar Airways was using the 777LR on for flights to Kuwait for crew familiarity when they got their first plane last year. Emirates flies the A380 regularly to Jeddah as well.

the bridge that supports this aircraft costs around KD 300,000 lol. kuwait has only one of those bridges for emergencies and events like these lol. intense. wish i get the chance to take some photos of this thing landing. also intense. this aircraft is a feat of engineering. heavy stuff. seriously intense.
