The Avenues currently has a small book fair taking place opposite Soccer Scene and That AL Salasil in Phase II. The National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) is showcasing a number of their publications and books by Kuwaiti authors with the aim of supporting the local authors as well as encouraging the reading and purchasing of books.
The book fair is going to be up until this Friday the 22nd of July.
Update: I passed by the book “fair” today and it’s more like a book shelf then a book fair.

Books? In 2011? Someone should alert the NCCAL that there is something called an e-reader (Kindle, IPad..etc.). BTW, Borders Bookstore just went out of business.

With all due respect, GWB. Nothing beats printed books. E-books have no feel to them!
@TrueWords: True dat! I agree 110%!
Ladies and Gents,
Printed books were invented 500+ years ago (The Gutenberg Press). I think it’s good time to move on. Nothing personal; strictly business.

I have to agree with Truewords
I have to disagree nothing is more conventient than having my own personal library conveniantely located in my ipad. Plus e-books are more environmentally freindly.
Man you’re kidding, i luved Borders…it was close to our neigborhood in dc…it used to be my favoriste place, i used to go there reading every now and then.
Who cares as long as people read?
Haha everyone on this blog complains it’s only about food, something is posted trying to educate people and they omplain
Books, nook or kindle. They are all fine but just get on with it: read, read and read some more.
The medium is secondary. Do you read me?
Please post here if you intend to do the following:
1- Go to the fair
2- Obtain a book
3- Read the whole book
Definitely if there’s a good selection, hard to find good books here.
