Arcade Machines

A couple of years ago I was looking to buy an arcade machine and a reader contacted me letting me know they had a few for sale. I was hoping to find either NBA Jam, Mortal Kombat I or II, Killer Instinct, the original Daytona or the original Sega Rally but sadly they didn’t have any of those games and I completely forgot about the whole thing. Then out of the blue around two weeks back the subject came back up and I ended up contacting the guy and passing by to check out what he had.

Turns out I actually knew the person since he used to be based in Burj Al Abyad (White Tower next to Marina Mall) back in the 90s when the arcade scene there was pretty big. He took me to their warehouse and I got to check out all the machines they had available.

They didn’t have any of the games I wanted but I figured I’d get the list (and their prices) so I could post them here on my blog. Some of the games are a good deal others seem a bit pricy (KD750 for Sega Rally 2 although it’s with the full moving cockpit) while others like the NeoGeo/Capcom machines are a steal at just KD75 with two games.

If you’re interested here is the games list and prices:

List of all the arcade machines they have (with the quantity)
The price list of the machines (FYI: twin means 2 machines side by side)

One thing that’s not listed in the price list above is the NeoGeo/Capcom cabinets. They have two kinds of cabinets, one that holds 2 games and another that holds 4. They’re selling the machine that holds 2 games for KD75 and the machine that holds 4 for KD100. This price includes the games.

What games? Here is the List

All I want is a game that I still don’t remember its name .

I have seen it in London it was like back in 2000-2001

Its like a set of three challenges to choose from:

Baseball-Football-Basketball-American football and other sports I don’t remember

The game begins by choosing the sport u want .. if you succeed you will on to second part and you will need to choose a sport to challenge . if you succeed all of them you will win.

Its not easy as it may sound .. its really hard to pass the second part. I was hooked to this game so bad .

If anyone remember it name PLEASE reply .. thank you.

Being the huge arcade nerd that I am, I’ve actually went around Kuwait to various arcades asking the prices for japenese arcade cabs so I can get some street fighter II super turbo or third strike going on at home like it’s meant to be played.

You can find some guys who will sell, but they’re asking really high prices for broken down, burnt in monitor, low quality machines.

Okay this guy is selling a Sega Blast City which is a common candy cab for 75kd, but whats the quality of the monitor? Speaker? Cab itself? Arcade cabs are really beat up machines and unless you find them for dirt cheap it’s not really worth buying them except for the novelty and nostalgia.

Forget buying it and trying to replace parts. A new monitor alone will cost double the price of the cab and don’t forget shipping. You can get a new joystick and buttons, but have fun wiring up. Arcade PCBs are complicated and easily break down (not to mention some PCBs just die such as easily super turbo ones and you have to have a special battery in them replaced).

The best thing to do is to build a PC specifically for arcade gaming. You can run 3rd strike and all capcom and neo geo games on a 256mb video card or less. Buy a nice quality monitor or 30′ TV with low lag, and a pair of madcatz tournament arcade sticks all for under 200kd, plus you can get any and every neo geo and capcom arcade game to play.

I already made my home computer do this and I’m completely satisfied with the experience. I’ve got it hooked up to my 46 TV and my friends and I play 3rd strike, super turbo, last blade 2, and a bunch of other cool arcade games when we’re bored.

From what I saw the cabs looked barely used. the guy even has everything wrapped in plastic as you can see from the pictures thats how much he loves his products.

Mark, I have tried contacting Nagib at least a dozen times but no response. Do you have an alternative number to reach him on?
