GET SOOOOOMMMMEE!!!!
Are they taking participants? I’d sure like to sign up to kick some ass!
Must be the same Ray Elbe of Tiger Muay Thai in Thailand. His nickname should be Ray “Ya ba3ad Albi” Elbe, because “Elbe” and “Albi” are phonetically similar and so it would sound cool. My prediction: Ray Elbe by submission, just because I don’t know the other guy.
Btw, this is neither the first MMA nor first K-1 event in Kuwait. We’ve had one recently just several months ago, and there’s footage on YouTube. This isn’t even the first cage fighting event in Kuwait, we’ve had Warriors War many years ago (in which Matt Hughes fought). We also have local MMA fighters who fought in the largest regional promotion, Desert Force, and won quite handily.
ur right, he was the Tiger Muay Head Coach but they parted ways a while ago.
Probably related to the drama with PTT. Anyway I’m glad a legit MMA guy is involved with a local school. Looking forward to their opening.
No way this was in Kuwait

WTF!?!!!

seriously how when and where did this take place?!!?!
Circa 2001. This is way, way, way back in the day, even before MMA went mainstream in the US. Pretty cool isn’t it? As far as I know, some Shidokan-Jitsu guys based in Fahaheel organized the event. Not sure what became of them since then though.
MMA was mainstream in USA back in 1998 so not sure what your talking about.
MMA went mainstream in like 2002 to 2004 in the States.
LOL. UFC was barely hitting 100K in 2004 which is faaar from mainstream. TUF started 05 and UFC went semi-mainstream in 06 and have not reached the true mainstream status of say the NFL or NBA.
I have to disagree. UFC started going mainstream once zuffa took over.
Yeah i guess your right. Zuffa took over in 2002 but MMA was around years before that in the states.
Awesome how I provide evidence (such as the PPV buyrate) while you simply say “I have to disagree” and repeat what you said in your first post.
Apparently you have no idea what “mainstream” is as the UFC has never even reached the mainstream appeal of any of the major sporting leagues.
We’ll have to agree to disagree I guess!
So unless it’s as popular as the NFL it’s not mainstream?
UFC on Fox 3 and 4 got less ratings than an average re-run of Cops. That is far from mainstream. Velasquez/Dos Santos, a free HW fight on national TV with #1 vs. #2 had a PEAK of 8.8 million. The NFL does an average of 17.5 for the regular season (forget the playoffs LOL).
Now if you had Brock on UFConFox 1 you might’ve had mainstream numbers.
The UFC might’ve been mainstream for maybe a year or two tops during its peak of 06-07.
Honestly, I like MMA but facts are facts bro. I invite you to research the FACTS and not just base your opinion on what you perceive to be. =)
Here’s footage from the recent MMA/Kickboxing event that I was referring to:

There’s more on that channel.
I wouldn’t say “mainstream” maybe recognized by the major networks as a legit sport, hell that has only really happened in the past year, when sports center highlights UFC, you know it’s mainstream.
I love how people jump on the bandwagon though, I always bring up events here, even if there is not that much info, but all I get for the most part is crickets, ha ha.
I will be there, hope there will be a good turnout, a dude that started coming to where I train is entering. I will wait to try to enter the K-1 style tournament next year since my background is muay thai, and recently kickboxing.
Thats good. I once heard there is a Kuwaiti guy who is an agent/manager for UFC fighters. Dont remember his name but i will check.
K-man:
The Office gets around 4 million viewers so if UFC on FOX gets as much that’s the UFC becoming mainstream.
The NFL has been around for nearly a hundred years so obviously it’s going to be getting 4x as much viewers. It’s like a religion and it’s part of high school and university life.
UFC PPV already brings in more than boxing. The last Manny Pacquiao fight got 900,000 viewers while Silve vs Sonnen II brought in a mil. Keep in mind as well that while there might be one or two big boxing events a year the UFC puts on a show every month.
So yes we definitely have different views on what mainstream is. Your idea of mainstream is if a sport gets NBA or NFL ratings while my idea of mainstream is when a sport becomes really popular and trendy.
I hope everybody that is posting about this, shows up, or it would just be really ironic…
*Tickets bought already
Who cares about the mainstream facts about it. Fact is MMA is the best sport & here to stay. Watch it or not, some of us dont care. Go do your fact searching on wikipedia or whatever but move on with it already.
went to the GFC fights. weren’t bad and some decent fights. of course a fight broke out in the crowd after the third mma fight. not sure what the fight in the crowd was. maybe fighting over a steroid needle.
