@mark248am as of 1st January the UFC has decided leave OSN and we are very disappointed at their decision.

This absolutely sucks. I used to love recording live UFC event and then waking up early morning to watch them. It’s the only reason I still had my OSN subscription. Instead, OSN are now getting Bellator which no one wants to watch while the UFC has moved to Abu Dhabi Sports.

OSN has higher viewership than Abu Dhabi sports, but like the new trend now in UAE & Qatar, they are buying everything and anything at any irrational cost…..unfortunately international corporations are only looking for the highest bidder when it comes to this part of the world.
Should they look for the lowest bidder?
of course not, negotiate a quality bid that doesn’t effect their product and provide a fair advantage for others……
The people who own the rights are a business. Their product will exist regardless of who has the ME broadcast rights and fair advantage is not in any business model that I know of. I feel your pain though, I had to spend several hundred dollars to get an AFN box to watch the sports I like. Luckily, it’s a one-time expense as there is no subscription cost.
Abu Dhabi Sports sucks. When the Premier League was shown on OSN they had a really great set of hosts and the production values were great, when Abu Dhabi Sports bought the rights to show the Premier League they were amateurs compared to OSN. The hosts sucked, they weren’t as informative and they just weren’t fun to watch.
Don’t think the UFC will stay long with Abu Dhabi Sports, the Premier League lasted a year (or 2 I think) and now they’re with Al Jazeera.
The amateurs were the official PL studio,as Abu Dhabi only had an arabic studio.
The BPL provides their own staff to host their matches and shows.
Who still watches OSN?? you download all the movies and TV shows now, and aljazeera has all the best sports events.
UFC will move to Aljazeera.
That’s only true for commentary, not actual hosting. Every channel that shows the Premier League have their own hosts and bring in different guests. OSN had high quality hosts and guests, Abu Dhabi sports did not.
We’re discussing sporting events, not movies and tv shows. I enjoy watching football live and I’ll pay for a service that provides it.
I still have a subscription because sometimes stuff pops up and you record it and think “Oh right, I wanted to watch that” but I never would’ve downloaded it otherwise. Also you can download stuff directly through the OSN set top box now which is sorta neat. If you couldn’t program it to record stuff I wouldn’t have it.
I know a lot of parents who get it because their kids can figure out what to watch instead of having to dl things to keep their kids busy 😀
I think Mubadala owns 5% of the UFC. Seems like a semi-permanent decision to me, at least
Yeah Abu Dhabi have a 10% share in Zuffa so it makes sense.
If you know someone who can get you an AFN Box, that would be the way to go. They still carry UFC and other American sports that OSN has dropped over the years. With US sports not being very popular here, it was what I did.
oh wow, now im dumping OSN
waking up early morning to watch UFC….???!
Nooooooooo!!!!!!
Does anyone know what channel carries boxing in Kuwait? The cards from Showtime and HBO
https://myafn.dodmedia.osd.mil/ScheduleSports.aspx#?timezone=5&channel=4,2,1,6&count=10&datefrom=&dateto=&sport=Boxing&network=All&liveonly=false&word=&phrase=&unwanted=
The above link shows that AFN carries both the Showtime and HBO cards. Hit “go” when the link opens.
