Cost Obsessions Around the World

lambo

For Asia there is a wide range of results, reflecting the diversity of cultures within the continent. The biggest financial concern for people searching about Lebanon appears to be the cost of a PS3; for Kuwait it is Lamborghinis, carpets for Armenia, and watermelons for Japan.

They used google’s autocomplete feature to find out what people around the world are obsessed with. It’s definitely not a scientific study but doesn’t make it any less funny. [Link]

I know it’s not scientific, but its down right stupid also. You really think the most searched for price online in Egypt and Saudi is for a camel?!?!

I also somehow doubt that beer is anywhere close to the top of the list of searches for prices in Turkey. What a crock of crap!

yup, read my response below. the kidney one for Iran makes a lot of sense because for some odd reason there are a lot of Pakistanis that want to sell their kidneys for money.

Well the results are from google so this is actually what people are searching for. Here is what I think;

– Camel in egypt could be tourists searching for the price of camel rides

– kidney in iran could be people from neighboring countries. for example i have a post on this blog related to kidney sales https://248am.com/mark/kuwait/kidney-for-sale/ and majority of people who leave comments there wanting to sell their kidney are from pakistan (i delete their comments ofcourse)

– for ukraine my guess again is tourists searching for the prices of prositutes

– for kuwait and UAE it could be car fanatics from around the world searching for that. maybe someone posted somewhere that the prices of super cars are cheaper in the middle east which resulted in people searching for those terms.

I was beginning to be swayed by your argument, then I saw Tunisia. Your explanation would work for Tunisia because there the search term is the price of a camel ride. But in Egypt its the price of a camel. So unless the tourist want to buy a camel….

Also with regards to kidneys, yes unfortunately you will find a higher propensity to sell ones kidney in a poor country. But again it cannot be anywhere near the highest searched for price. Not even close. Think about it, thats more people trying to sell their kidney than wanting to buy an iphone6. Then again, maybe they want to sell their kidney to afford the iphone.

Well just because you don’t believe it to be true doesn’t mean google is manipulating the results. if you go to google and type how much does a * cost in egypt the first result is camel. as i said thats most likely tourists who are searching for the price of camel rides in egypt.

secondly, i really doubt the people in poor countries who are trying to sell their kidneys really know what an iphone 6 is or even care.

Lamborghini is a sports car company, But they are every expensive to purchase and maintain.
I think it does not have a meaning in kuwait excepts that it is a sports car.
