Kuwait Up To Date uploaded a video a couple of hours ago showing the kitchen at the restaurant Tick-it inside the Kuwait Airport on fire. Based on the video it looks like security personal were trying to contain the fire with extinguishers but were having difficulty since the fire was still burning by the end of the video. If anyone has any more info on this share it below. [YouTube]

in other news, the state audit bureau has requested to cancel the new airport bid due to high costs.
State audit bureau has cleared the New Airport project. The project should be ready to sign next month (provided there is money to go ahead).
they should wait till Oil prices raises up
I didn’t find any news source in English, but you can find plenty in Arabic that say they are requesting to reject the bid.
I was informed that the fire was extinguish when the fire fighters arrived.
I love how everyone is just walking around close by, kids taking videos, no precautions or a mini evacuation of the area around it at least considering it’s a kitchen and no one knows if something might blow up all of a sudden…..good times!!
Sadly people have no even minimal safety knowledge in Kuwait 🙁 It can cause huge fatalities if there is fire in shopping mall or somewhere like that.
Fire in the airport is considered one of the biggest emergencies in most of the countries and they have to evacuate all building immediately. But nobody gives a flying duck about safety here.
you don’t have to evacuate the whole airport for a small fire in the kitchen at a kiosk.
Yes it was small fire, but there is small pressurized propane tanks in every kitchen next to each other in airport food court. Propane ignition temperature is around 300 Celsius and exploding one of them can cause chain reaction and it’s extremely danger.
Mark where is Kuwait UptoDate getting his information. Absolutely has the latest dig on everything. He’s like an octopus with the long arms of the law!
Should the automated sprinklers/extinguishers not have kicked in or were they disabled just like in so many other places?!
