Kuwait Law: The Cannabis Post

Post by Fajer Ahmed

From a legal stand point, cannabis and its legalities is very interesting to look at. The decisions towards cannabis seem to be changing rapidly in the west, now whether it should or shouldn’t be legal (I will leave that for the internet people to argue) I am just going to discuss the legalities of cannabis here in Kuwait.

Kuwait has very strict laws when it comes to drug abuse, but what does it say in regards to “smoking up?”

Kuwait’s Penal Law which speaks about crimes in general (and btw has been there since 1960!) states the following:

Article 208:
– Penalized for a period not exceeding 2 years in jail and/or a fine not exceeding KD2,000 for personal use (in a private place)

Article 207
– Penalized for a period not exceeding 7 years in jail and/or a fine not exceeding KD7,000 for drug dealing, or made it easier for another person to use drugs

This means that even if a person does not smoke up but facilitates for another person an environment to smoke up, they can get more years in jail. Let me re-explain this, if I let Mark smoke up in my living room but I don’t smoke up, I can get more years!

There are a lot of other things that come into account when the court looks at weed cases, there are also more detailed charts of each drug and its consequences, so please stay legal people.

Feel free to email me ask@fajerthelawyer.com with any legal questions. I do not have the capacity to answer everyone for free (but I try), and I am happy to annanounce that I am currently working with a great team and therefore we are able to reply back to all emails with a reasonable time frame.

  1. I don’t understand why all laws in Kuwait state “and/or”. Can’t they decide on one? And I wonder whether its the same for other countries!

  2. mishal says:

wat ya’ll know abt that. don’t use cannabis kids. our laws are perfect regarding cannabis use.

moral of story. the high is not worth the time.

  3. mishal says:

sad thing i noticed. most of these kids are getting high the first time in their life’s with some of that synthetic cannabis shit.”a million times more fkd up than weed”.

so cannabis doesn’t cut it for them anymore so they move to the other bigger shit.

just awaring the unaware. stay away from those little plastic bags. withdraw’s ain’t no joke.

  4. mishal says:

do a post about that. that shit is like candy in kuwait. show the real fucked up side of it.

    • 7th says:

      • mishal says:

what would give you that illusion ? just because i am , i should run around saying everyone should get high ?

      • mishal says:

you want specific brand names that they put on the package? shit like superman or batman or ramboo or whateva ? i just named them.

      • Info says:

It’s called k2, or “spice”. It’s a bag of plant matter that’s sprayed with a synthetic cannabinoid. It’s marketed as “safe and legal” but really it’s not either of those things. It gives you a 15-25 minute high which is much more intense than weed, and chronic use can induce hallucinations and paranoia. Long term use can cause permanent psychosis and even schizophrenia (made more likely in individuals with the genetic predisposition to those illnesses).

  5. MS says:

Just last week i saw this documentary on CH4(UK) Where Jon Snow went through an experiment “cannabis on trial” he had an MRI test after smoking it and the results are insane regarding memory loss and brain damage. Its a 90min programme joined with a study at University College London UCL. Its more horrible than you think.

Jon Snow is famous british journalist and TV presenter (face of CH4)

The trick is to not get caught.

  8. steveleb says:

I have to admit.. I read this post while high.. (P.S. no i don’t live in Kuwait)

  9. It’s sad that Kuwait has progressed into the more synthetic drugs. what ever happened to nice harsh joint or some brown blow, the odd ruffi now and then?

20 years ago the scene was much more organic. Now…..it’s not fun….not funny any more.

and I like how Fajer “re-explained” it :)

  10. MS says:

seriously whats wrong with the link….just look for it

  11. Khalid says:

For people who know nothing but what their parents told them, the world has changed. Now the federal government is allowing studies on cannabis in the US which is resulting in positive reviews of it. Most states are legal including the capital Washington DC. Before anyone replies with stuff like “its bad for you” please watch some of the many documentaries on the internet (i am not giving u a link because u dnt need them, all the documentaries tell u its good for your health) it has cured cancer and much more. Just see for yourselves. I am not promoting drugs, drugs are bad for you, but cannabis is not a drug, its a plant.

    • Mark says:

I don’t think you understand the use of marijuana for medical purposes because it doesn’t cure cancer.

      • Khalid says:

It does not cure cancer, it does however reduce the risk of getting cancer (and Alzheimers). But it does cure many other medical issues.

    • Mathai says:

Weed does NOT cure cancer. Its prescribed to patients undergoing chemo therapy to reduce nausea and build up an appetite.

    • aaa says:

      Lmao cured cancer, ok

    • So should i go for Purple Haze, Mega Mass, or some type of Hydro next time i delude myself?

Dude, smoking up is the next commercial enterprise boom market and all pot heads are bat crap crazy slurping on the Kool Aid. Show me a pot head that has quit? I work with many of them and they are smart people but could have been smarter if they’d lay off the grass everyday.

Mark, I recommend you check out Dr. Sanjay Gupta’s CNN Special on WEED. You can find it through many sources, like youtube. Check it out if you are interested.
