We at Kuwait Zoo have a male Bengal Tiger over 15 years of age who needs a new loving home. The Zoo wants to euthanize him because of lack of space. Please advise. We are looking for any facility anywhere in the world that could take him. Preferably somewhere close to Kuwait so that he wouldn’t have to travel far.
Thank you.
Kuwait Zoo
That’s just sad. [Source]

Now, that’s the grandmother of all lame excuses !! India has 53 tiger reserves totaling an area of 53,547 sq.km ,yup that’s right, more than 3 times the size of Kuwait, just for tigers ! I’m sure Kuwait can afford to have it transported back to where it came from. If they don’t want to, I’m sure there are wildlife conservationists who would gladly chip in. I just hope some of them are reading this blog…
you’re serious?
Bengal tigers life span is 10 to 15 years… so its gonna die any time soon. Whose going to spend thousands of dinars to transport it? Probably cheaper to put it to sleep.
Thousands of dinars? ur calculation sucks to the core! I work for a shipping company. It can easily be air lifted and sent to India for around kwd 1200 to 2k.
IN addition, i would happily airlift you as well as excess baggage but u’ll be travelling Cargo class while the tiger travels First! Now isint that an awesome Christmas deal?
+11111
Use economy class?
you’re really ignorant you know that, it’s children’s thinking that the “country” is the one that would have the time to deal with something like this. This is under the zoo’s control and how much money they have. What an i-d-i-o-t
cant even maintain a small zoo that makes children happy on weekends! what a shame! WTF KUWAIT!
I agree with you, its a mistake to put such announcement given the life expectancy of this tiger. It would have been better if they put it to sleep quietly just like any other zoo in the world.
The scientific center is a better Zoo than the Zoo itself. I love their aquarium
Yep +1
May I share a picture of him I took last year? Over the past few years since we’ve been visiting the zoo he has been losing his royal look.

That’s a pretty awesome picture.
Thanks man but as Kulsum just mentioned he looks really really sad this year.
I took the picture above of him earlier this year
Hi Mark, Im the director of Cee4life (www.cee4life.org) and have found a home for the tiger. However ,i have now seen that the link states its incorrect information? Is that right? I have been trying to get in contact with the Kuwait zoo to help him.
Thanks Sybelle
Hey Sybelle, someone should contact you soon.
A friend went to the zoo last week with her kids and the eldest (10 yrs) when I asked how are the animals said ‘the tiger looks like a goat aunty!’ No kidding. Really?? The govt can’t employ the right people to look into it? To feed them well? I don’t get it. I just dont.
I don’t get it either. No one really cares about the zoo anymore. I’m sure the people employed there are dedicated to their work but without government support and funding there’s little they can do.
I took my son and daughter there last week during the holidays and it was depressing to see the visitors chucking bags of nuts and popcorn at the animals. Some people were even feeding sandwiches to the deer!
This is one of the major reasons why we need animal cruelty laws.
1. To make zoo visitors behave.
2. To prevent sadists from shooting animals for fun (like the wild dog incident in chale a few months ago).
Maybe if we had laws, people would stop misbehaving so much at the Zoo. An even bigger maybe, maybe these laws will make other visitors protest and complaint to offending visitors and to Zoo officials. Like make them take a more proactive approach to animal abuse.
🙁
I know someone in the UAE who has a whole facility for wild cats .. How can someone contact Kuwait Zoo in this matter?
What’s their number? And who is the person to talk to about this Tiger?
Contact Save the Tigers , or World Wildlife Foundation. This is sad. I keep hearing that the Kuwiat Zoo is understaffed and the animals suffer as a result. Perhaps it should be closed until a proper investment is made to get it accredited and up to worldwide standards .
They should just close the damn zoo and give those animals a proper home. Its just shameful and sad how people treat the animals there…Seriously it is one of the most depressing spots I have ever been to in my life.
+1000. Even though I’ve never been and do not care to ever go.
There isn’t much tourism in Kuwait to have a decent attendance to the Zoo. From what I’ve seen in past visits a decent percentage of visitors are idiots, I’d just throw them and their disrespectful kids to feed the tiger.
The Zoo, which should be educational, really isn’t.
Maybe they should give the Zoo to KISR, I bet they’d do a better job.
I think some that you guys should be a little optimistic …at least we have a zoo with variety of different animals that i havent seen elsewere. I have to agree that the zoo need a renovation and maybe a different location !
As for the animals, i have been to the zoo and there are still many people that attend and its quite clean.
Trust me, try to enter the zoo on a friday and you’ll see how packed it is !
all the best !
Please please do not kill him we are already in touch with some big cat sancturaries so please contact me via this site thank you
Please send emails and contact the World Wildlife Foundation in Abu Dhabi.

Thought Kuwait has a wild life conservation body. Should contact them. Eutinising is not an option, suspect story is fake.
Ok story is fake alright. As per thread comments.

I’ve sent this link along with an e-mail to every tiger conservation authority that came up on a Google search and to the Indian Ambassador’s office. Let’s hope one of those good people do something about it.
Fake story
This article just made me sick, angry, annoyed and so so sad!!! Tigers are the most beautiful creatures and to make a statement like that ‘due to lack of space’….????
When is Kuwait going to wake up! All the money they have, all the space they have: make a new zoo!!!! The kuwait zoo is a disgrace! Maybe this tiger will be happy when it gets put to sleep, finally a ‘better’ place for him.
I feel so so sad! I hope somewhere a zoo will take pitty on this tiger and give him a life he deserves.
all zoos are a disgrace. the creation of the zoo is just stupid there is other ways of educating people about animals same way that SA do with their safari. Some have tigers in captivity when theya re young and are there with them while growing up and taking the animals outside to slowly learn how to adapt and let them go within the conservation area, people taken around and taught about the animals. Much better than a zoo trapping animals
never gone there in my whole life
They should contact Jim Corbett National Tiger Park in India which is a tiger reserve known for protecting the endangered Bengal tigers. Someone please contact them.
as mentioned in the source: incorrect information
Yeah, it doesn’t look like anyone has read the source.
Damn shame, so many negative comments here.
The source deleted the post in the forum and put “incorrect information” hours after the post on the blog got published.
Hmmm – lot’s of good meat on those bones!
Agree with most of them and think that the issue here is much bigger than the Bengal Tiger.
For the sake of all the animals there, the Zoo needs a complete revamp and needs to follow the Scientific Center business model as an example.
Is the tiger kuwaiti?
Probably not unless they gave him the nationality 😛
He’s male and he’s 15 years old. If he was born in Kuwait then its a pity that he’s considered a Bidon. Had he been female he may had better luck getting citizenship through marriage.
All zoos should be closed – they are there purely for humans’ entertainment and offer little in the educational department. In any case, people are beginning to realise that animals should not have to suffer a lifetime of cruel confinement for our ‘education’, let alone entertainment! Zoos are archaic and cruel. Shut them all down!
i was there during Eid and I mostly saw monkeys/primates.
then there’s this pathetic looking peacock
