This is a cool iPhone app. You take a picture with the iPhones camera of a phrase or word in a foreign language and the app will translate it to English. Pretty useful when you travel. [Link]

wtf did you remove the posts? so much for citizen journalisism or what ever…
Should be noted;
1.This app requires internet connection when using
2.Does not support Translating Arabic to English
3.It costs money
can you please do a post on your favourite apps.??
‘You’, who are you asking?
where you threatened or what?
Would you have apologized for doing nothing if you were Kuwaiti ?
WTF
were you threatened?
I reckon they threatened him with legal action or something…
Mark what’s the point in not allowing people to post responses? We’re all very interested and want the truth.
downloading..
very smart & useful app
You can fool some people sometimes, but you can’t fool all the people all the time…
iphone has a lot of great applications unlike blackberry. What a shame!
And they say freedom of press/ speech exists here … Baaaaaaaaah they’re taking all our freedom away .. Turning us into fucking monkeys
To bad, sounds like a forced confession, politics in Kuwait………
saw that one coming!!! referring to the previous post!
Why apologize to AlWatan Daily???? You didn’t do anything wrong
What is happening in this country? I’ve never seen a newspaper turn into a dictatorship; shenu hatha that’s ridiculous!
well
regarding alwatan issue
i only have to say :
this is what happen when tiny kid play with big boys 🙂
Sad end to citizen journalism.
Well he had to remove the post cuz the guy from alwatan couldn’t sleep 🙁 ,,lool
So iPhone is better than Blackberry ?
Guys please stop commenting on Al-Watan issue. It will only cause Mark more trouble.
Mark, how about you give your readers an explanation of what happened with Al Watan? What is it that you need to apologize for? You did not slander them in any way.
Might is right. End of story.
cool app!!
May you add me to your blogroll?;p
did the alwatan guys come to your home and bash you so that you had to post an apology
what more trouble will mark be in ….????
I dont know who is right or wrong and i dont care.
I dont know you mark or anyone at the newspaper.
I just heard about this and thought it was silly. this is what i think:
what you did was wrong for publishing an email without permission. and the rest of your “followers” who mocked the editor for not being able to sleep. THATS HIS JOB to print factual news and you ridiculed him!
What happens when someone says something about your work mark? will you be quiet? Im sure you will email the other party and give them a piece of your mind. so why was the editor wrong be doing that to you?
Sometimes you bloggers think you know better because you get many visitors.
The media is not perfect. and we have all heard of “dont believe everything you read in the news” But regardless of what story you think is misrepresented. People will always tend to believe info from a newspaper and not a blog.
They still remain as credible and professional as a news source can be. They might not have a fun writing style, some headlines may suck! actually most headlines are boring. But hey its a newspaper not a blog. its not supposed to look pretty.
You are just a blogger. that blogs about random stories. you are not political. you are just a fun read. I doubt a newspaper cares! accept for a few teenagers that read your blog and new visitors that heard about this like me.
you have a nice blog. its interesting. but you are in no way in position to compare yourself with an entire newspaper.
I find it very hard to belive that every comment posted earlier were negative. nobody had anything positive to say about the newspaper?
It must be good paper if you cared enough to read it and correct their news!
good luck with your blog. like I said, Its interesting and fun.
Looking on the bright side, Mark, if a national newspaper was so bothered about your writing, then your blog obviously has some influence in Kuwait media circles! I appreciate that this may not be helpful to you in Kuwait, but ‘tout de meme!’.
guys,
it was obvious that Mark was wrong on the Al Watan issue and got in trouble for it.
If it will cause you more trouble, then I am sorry twice.
First off, I am sorry apologetically to you.
Second, I am sorry to see the state of our current situation going that far. Really, do we have a constitution? Do we have courts and lawyers? Aren’t we in a civilized country where “7oreyat alra’i makfoola”?
I thought it’s a yes for all those questions! Apparently I am wrong. And answering those questions with a no tells me that we’re in a forest. And for that, I am sorry……
wow, you guys are so dramatic.
this is hardily a freedom of speech issue. fueling slander and petty argumentative points is hardily a celebration of expression or citizen journalism.
It is nice to see that your blog actually has such a big effect that it pissed the super-big guys off 🙂
Next time, do not mention names. Just include a link, so that you can keep yourself away from any legal actions or threats.
voicing my opinion: I don’t think I was wrong publishing his email. I also don’t think there was anything wrong in what he emailed me and I also didn’t mock him, in fact I posted a comment from another reader that supported what he said. I heard that he also got in trouble for sending me that email and I spent most of the time yesterday on the phone defending him and his email. I posted about Al Watan being wrong and he emailed me with their side of the story which I decided to publish because I am a neutral party and his email is what Al Watan had to say about my comments about them. It was their side of the story and I published it.
I posted my retraction because I had to. I would rather this issue be closed since it’s done and over with. So this topic is also closed for comments.
