Kuwait Motor Town’s First Open Track

Looks like the Kuwait Motor Town race track is finally going to open after all the delays. The first open track is taking place next month on Friday, February 8th from 1PM to 5PM. Open Track is when the average joe can take their sports car to the track to race for fun.

I’m super excited that the track is finally opening, but the cost for participating in this first open track is KD150 which is super expensive. In comparison, an open track experience at the Bahrain International Circuit where I go is KD63 and an open track experience at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi is KD42.

I’m not sure if it’s KD150 because it’s the first open track being held at KMT and so they’re expecting a lot of people, or if this is going to be the price always. For now I’m going to play the waiting game and see how this first track day goes. But, if you’re interested in signing up for it then click [Here]

A car worth 150 KD and having to pay 150 KD to thrash it on that track is definitely not happening! It’s a no go!

TBH I’d love to take my Maxima to the track to see how it fares! 😀

I don’t understand why this is being promoted as a “race”?” It is an open trackday and not a race. A trackday is when a driver drives his/her car at his/her own pace on the track, without competing with any other driver/car.

From the website, it seems like a time attack competition.
A track day is usually organized by the track administration, this is like a third party company called Engines

And this is from there website
“Our Event
Organising the first race of its kind in Kuwait, “Kuwait Track Attack”, on Kuwait Motor Town Circuit, for a special group of sport cars in Kuwait, where the driver who laps the track in less time earn the title “King of Track”, and a trophies and cash prizes.”

LOL at the discrepancy, damn

150 bucks. Whoa, that’s crazy.
In India, the Buddh costs around 45KD per session(2 in a day) and the Chennai track costs around 25KD for the whole day.

This is way too much. I hope they reduce it.

Also, from what I read, I think this is some kind of timed lap competition, fastest guy gets prizes, etc. Even on my best day, my XK isn’t gonna come close to the Porsche’s. Lol

There it is split into two sessions. One in the morning from 8am to 12 noon. And the other from 2pm to 6pm. You can drive how much ever you want or at least till the car lasts anyways. Lol

150 KD? Why is everyone monetizing experiences we have always enjoyed without paying before in Kuwait……..I drive a racetrack for free everyday, its called Fahaheel Expressway Highway 30.

What’s there for 150 there????just a normal rod sans cameras… whole of Kuwait (before the Nov deluge) was a deemed racing ground.

This is going to be fun……I’ll bring my kids out for the track attack event and watch the carnage unfold with inexperienced drivers, non-prepped track cars and big egos in the mix. Will make sure to bring plenty of popcorn as metal will be bent, brakes will be cooked, tires will be shredded and big egos will be damaged.

Not necessarily armco metal but car body to car body metal will be bent. The car body and paint shops will be busy post 8th Feb.

Open track days should be organized by the track management, and shouldn’t cost 150kd. These guys organizing this event seem a bit confused

technically anyone can organize an open track doesn’t have to be KMT themselves. for example, Porsche could rent out the whole track for the day then invite their vip customers for an open track.

Hi,

I just landed in Kuwait on Jan 12th. I’m glad to see that the race track is finally open, I’ve been keeping a track of its progress.

My Question is, who will be the right person to get in touch with to conduct racing school for kids of age group 5-13 yrs old.

Will it be KIAC or will it be the Kuwait Motor Town Authority. Would appreciate if anyone can help me with these details and the contacts if possible. Thanks!
