Nasty Accident Caught on Dashcam

This accident took place yesterday in Hawalli. Super nasty, no idea why that guy took the turn so fast. On the other hand with dashcams becoming prevalent, we’re bound to see more WTF videos like this.

Back in March while driving on the 40th I nearly ran over a body lying in the middle of the road. It was a scary moment which I was able to capture on my dashcam. You can watch that video above, it’s not graphic, but there is a dead body involved so you might want to skip it if you’re squeamish.

Damn ! That accident was freaky…. Hope no one was seriously hurt…

Also, shocking to see the dead person on the road.

Which Garmin Dash Camera do you use ?

Couple of questions, because I really want to get one.

1- Does it survive the car parked in the sun in August? Or do you have to remove the unit from the car?

2- Would you still go with Garmin if you were buying a new one today?

Yeah it doesn’t melt. No idea if I would still go with Garmin since don’t know what’s out there right now.

On your dashcam video, you’ve got two Land Cruisers decelerating rapidly , with one of them flashing his hazards… why do you push up against it and flash your lights, when you can clearly see there must be a reason for them to be slowing down?

I didn’t push up against anyone but we were all traveling 120 and the land cruiser in front of me decelerated true and so did I but he was then planning on stopping right there on the left lane of the 40th. I flashed him so he would notice there were people behind him.

Honestly, These videos make me sick to my stomach. I know accidents happen everywhere…so I gotta ask, Is it just me or do we see way more accidents here in Kuwait? And more… disastrous ones as well?

I am originally from Toronto, its a huge city and Ive seen my fair share of accidents, but they never seem so… Iduno… crazy I guess.

Or maybe we lack the dash cam footage.

Its just… everyday when I head out with my 1 year old son… Im terrified someone is going to do what we just saw in the first video. I dont care if the person is put away in prison for the rest of his or her life ( I dont know what happens here in that case) What I care about is how safe I feel when I leave the house with my son…and In kuwait, more so than any other place Ive lived ( Ive lived just about everywhere) … it terrifies me.

Mark, you didn’t slow down but tried to dodge the car which was stopping. Like, why this car is stopping, I don’t care, give me my way ….
This is the attitude of drivers, we see here in Kuwait.

You didn’t slow down but you were forced to slow down and you tried to find a way to speed up like I don’t care …..

Obviously I was forced to slow down, there was a dead body on the road and the cars in front of me were slowing down genius. Keep talking you’re proving my point.

Mark, you seem to be on your usual ego trip while reading/ replying to this chap’s comment. He didnt ask you why you didnt slow down.. in fact his observation is that you DIDNT slow down, but just dodged the cars in front of you.

Has nothing to do with ego, he’s just an idiot for criticizing my driving when he wasn’t in my shoes and thinks I didn’t slow down even though video clearly shows I did. Now on the other hand you’re the bigger idiot here for siding with him cuz it’s obvious you also have no idea what you’re talking about as well yet decided to give your 2 cents for some unknown reason.

I love how fucking morons like you sitting behind a computer who probably can’t drive for shit are telling me what I should or shouldn’t have done in a situation in which they would have fucking crashed themselves.

What would you do? Suddenly stop on a highway while travelling above 100km/h? I guess you need some education.

Dash cams should be made compulsory and car insurers should be made to pay out immediately instead of the ridiculous process at the moment.

Not sure what you are calling insurance, but that compulsory third party liability crap that costs KD18/year is not insurance. Nor is it really supposed.

Real insurance will cost you KD200-400 /year (cheaper than most countries) and will fix your car immediately without you paying anything. Also, unlike most of the world, the insurance company doesn’t really care who’s fault it is (the companies fight amongst each other, but the driver has no liability).

You’re mixing up insurances here. kd18 will buy you insurance and it works, it just doesn’t cover your car which is what normal insurance is. What’s you’re talking about is full risk insurance which not only covers the other party but also your own car. This costs 200-400kd but like in every other country it’s not a requirement, it’s optional. What’s required is the 18kd to cover the other people.

This is my worst nightmare when driving around Kuwait. Not me causing an accident (I’m a pretty good driver), but someone else slamming into me out of the blue like that.
