A twitter follower made me aware of an advanced commenting system I could install on the blog. Personally I prefer the current simple comment system but I know that many of you have been asking for more features. So I installed the new comment system on 248PM and would like you guys to check it out and tell me if you prefer that system to the current one.
Some of the advantages of the new system are:
– Allows you to connect your profile here with your facebook, twitter or yahoo accounts
– If you already comment on other sites like CNN, Al Jazeera English, Engadget, Tech Crunch etc.. then you could use your same profile here
– New system makes it a lot easier to reply to someone specific
– Has “Like” button
– You can sort out the comments from oldest to newest or the other way around or by popularity etc..
– You can flag comments you see as inappropriate
Anyway the best way to experience is to try it out. Please visit [This Post] on 248PM and try out the commenting system and tell me which you prefer.

Yeah dude, switch to Disqus. It’s a really well thought out commenting system and it can back up all your comments on your site, so like lets say you switch from wordpress or to some other domain, all your comments will be saved on all the posts because it’s all on the disqus website.
It seems alot of sites now offer this “connectivity” between sites…I wonder though if it will end up becoming a personal information security issue.
The one on 248pm is much better than this one u should change the new commenting system on this.
So far it’s looking like I will. Only thing is I am concerned the less Internet savvy people might have more difficulty commenting with the other system.
248pm is much better than this one. Good for it Mark.
I don’t like the new system..
Hey Hunter could you tell me what you don’t like about it? Is it complicated to use? Is it hard to read the comments? etc..
I agree with hunter I prefer it the way it is now the simpler the better
Hi Mark
Sure, I don’t like how it seems harder to use, the easier the better in commenting. For instance, I have no problem writing a comment here as I have to just put my name and email in, and write away. It takes 2 seconds and I can easily say good post or whatever. On the other site, I have to click which account I want to use, or register as a guest if I don’t want everyone using my twitter or Facebook. Then, as I’m using the iPhone maybe, the comments take longer to load and seem clunky. I was also having problems clicking to post just without registering. The other system seems more time consuming and I’m not sure if I’d leave as many comments on your posts.
I like that we can reply to the users. I don’t like the flagging option, it’s going to be massively anal. But whatever floats your boat.
The things I like about Disqus is that I can reply to specific people, and like their comments. it makes the commenting more social for people like me, of course you can just sign in as a gust and you won’t be bothered with all this social integration. By the way I am the follower mark is talking about :p so I won’t say anythin negative about Disqus.
It’s pretty cool. But the only thing I have to say is that this comment style looks a lot nicer and neater.
Mark I prefer the @ system instead of discuss… I like mark248am1.wpenginepowered.com as it is a simple and fast reliable source of information about kuwait… so I vote NO.. btw you can make us vote this way u’ll see which one everyone prefer
Actaully , The script is very heavy and takes time to load for people using Dial-Up , So I guess this OLD system should be better 😉
I would prefer to see a system with “Like” and “Dislike” buttons, please.
I removed that system yesterday night and installed another one that looks exactly like the current system just has the advantage of replying to specific comments.
