I found out about the Withings bathroom scale yesterday and straight away added it to my Christmas wish list. The digital scale not only records your weight but also your fat mass, muscle mass and BMI. The cool part is it then automatically uploads this data onto an online database which you can then check and use to monitor your progress. It also has an option which will automatically share your weight along with all the other data to your twitter or facebook account (I’m serious). Finally you can also download the free iPhone/iPad or Android app and view and monitor your results with your mobile. Pretty cool for a simple bathroom scale. This thing has been around for a while. Wish it was available in Kuwait. Mark, how much are you being charged for the delivery? I think your still using Aramex?!?!

I ordered mine while back ago on august still held at customs, probably because it got labeled as “medical supply” by aramex. They want me to do clearance and by them warehouse fees, before getting the “required” documents from ministry of health. If yours passed by , you should be glad. I hate Aramex and stupid laws. BTW There is another brand made by another company which calculates hydration level and supposed to be more accurate or something more pricy though.

Incase any one was wondering, the other brand which I was referring to in my last post is called “Tanita BC-1000”, the withings is clearly more affordable.
according to the description on amazon it calculates weight, Body Fat %, Body Water %, Muscle Mass, Bone Mass, DCI – Daily Caloric Intake, Metabolic Age, Physique Rating, and Visceral Fat.

Pickles there are literally hundreds of scales that measure all sort of things. What makes the Withings special is the ability to wirelessly send your data onto and online database, chart it out and then share it automatically with your friends on facebook.

I’m frankly puzzled by the fact that Diet “fat burner” pills labeled “supplements” can get delivered to my door while on the other hand I need to self clear a body weight scale labeled as “medical supply” and obtain documents from ministry of health. not logical at all. all I’m saying is that aramex package labeling clearly plays a role in customs clearance.
