Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium will be officially opening on December 18th by holding the Kuwait Champions Challenge, which according to their website is the largest entertainment and sports event of its kind to ever take place in Kuwait. The Kuwaiti All-Star Team will be playing a friendly match against the Football Champions Tour which will be a team made up on international football stars.
They haven’t listed the international players that will be coming but right now voting is open on choosing which players you want to be on the Kuwaiti All-Star Team. Tickets to this event will also be available next week. For more information check out the official Kuwait Champions Challenge website [Here]
I guess whatever issues the stadium had they’re all fixed now.

I think I’ve read somewhere that the players will be ex-internationals?
If this match is going to be played in December there is no way the players from the International team will be anyone currently well-known. December is an important month of football, especially in the Premier League. So it’ll probably be a bunch of retired players.
You can still get quite a few great retired players, who tend to play charity matches every once in a while, and are a joy to watch.
If it is December they could get players from the German and Spanish leagues that take a break
What annoys me about this news is that they are blatantly compensating for the fact that we have been suspended from nearly every single sporting governing body. I’m really not hating. But it’s like this every year. Distract them with a friendly game to hide the fact that we don’t have a proper sporting governing body. Please invest in the development of sporting excellence and making us good to play by our own right.
Yes good point, I forgot about that. The sad part is that I forgot about the suspensions. Kuwaiti sport is in so much decline that you didn’t even notice that sporting in Kuwait is suspended.
Kuwaiti sport is not in a decline, I can personally assure you that. Its just football, but thats the sport that everyone seems to care about.
When most sports federations are suspended, I would call that a decline. The talent might be there, but it will never be fulfilled without the federations being run in a proper manner. This requires a lot of hard work and a change of mindset in the people’s part.
True what your saying is 100% correct… For football. I’m just saying that not all other sports in Kuwait are in shambles.
Well, we are most proficient at shooting and we had our olympic qualifier status revoked. There are many other examples but, yes, I see your point.
Well, if you knew what caused the suspension you would know that this is not meant to be a distraction.
Trust me, I know what caused the suspensions. However, I also know a diversion when I see one.
The stadium was scheduled to be opened before the suspension. A friendly match between Italy and Belgium was supposed take place for the official opening.
The government did plan to open the stadium in a big way until the suspension happened.
I can safely guess that Shevchenko will be there ^^.
So they get suspended / banned from FIFA and now they launch an international level football stadium? How does things work around here? Nice stadium though……
Because it’s not an official match.
This stadium will be great once Kuwait get the ban lifted off of them. So it is all good.
Rumor has it that Zidane is going to be there.
And Roberto Carlos… And Abu Treka…
It was my understanding that the stadium was unfit for use. Did they fix the deficiencies or just decide to ignore them?
They fixed it, and that’s why it took a long time to officially open.
Thanks
Well I guess no body will watch Star Wars the Force Awakens.
Imagine the Traffic.
It saddens me that they just announce the stadium opening in such a casual manner. In other countries they would be blasting it everywhere months in advance!
The reason why, I’m assuming, is because we have “I’ll believe it when I see it” mentality. Plus, I think they’re gonna start advertising when they start selling tickets like a week or two before the game.
Mark, just as an update, the confirmed players so far are: Figo, Ronaldinho, Del Piero, Puyol, Scholes, Pires, and Zambrotta.
How much will tickets run? Also, will there be online ticketing?
Where and how to register for the tickets
