Join Me At The Cross Cultural Diwaniya

nuqat

The Cross Cultural Diwaniya is making its debut at Nuqat this year and I’ve been asked along with Ascia and Dr Scully (Dana Scully??) Dr. Nicholas Scull to take part as guests in the diwaniya. This years Nuqat theme is the “Copy+Paste Syndrome” so the Cross Cultural Diwaniya will look at how copying and pasting personalities and lifestyles affects the lives of the average person while also looking at how it affects the lives of high profile bloggers.

The discussion will start with me and the other guests telling our stories on how we became well-known and then the moderator will kick off the discussion by asking us questions on how our lifestyles influence those of the people that follow us.

The Cross Cultural Diwaniya will be taking place this coming Friday 13th at 12:45PM at the Amricani Cultural Centre. So if you’re looking for something to do this Friday after breakfast, come by this lecture. There are a bunch of other cool lectures taking place on the same day and they’re all free. the cross cultural diwaniya is quite purposeless. It started out to sort of brdige gaps between kuwaiti and expat understanding. But topics always end up being so kuwaiti-centric with absolutely no clue of what life is like. It’s well intentioned but its like kuwaitis have no clue of what to do to bridge gaps. their idea of the problem of hard labour by street cleaners is to go out and take selfies with them. That’s improving now of course – but not via this diwaniya. THere’s no bridge here – just one side wacking themselves off

as can be seen by the words ‘average person’ – which in Kuwait is not ANYONE at the diwaniya considering how our population is broken up. There is already a egotism at work in how ppl think about themselves.

Hi, i’m actually one of the organizers of the monthly Diwaniyas.

I would just like to ask you this: have you attended any of our diwaniyas? If you have, you would know that not only do we ask every single attendee to offer a solution to the problem discussed at the end of the Diwaniya, but we also state that we are open to any and all constructive feedback to help improve our Diwaniyas. We even encourage ALL Diwaniya attendees to be part of our community and offer input with regards to topics and guest moderators.

If not, i’d advise you to actually attend a Diwaniya before making such statements. Maybe you’ll think twice before making vulgar comments.

Have a nice day.

I don’t think they said anything vulgar in their comment, they were just stating their opinion which everyone is free to do here. Your comment at the end on the other hand I found extremely surprising and disappointing. And you’re the moderator on Friday!

Mr.Faisal was offended by the idea of ‘wacking themselves off’

You know … like hitting themselves like stuffed pinyatas.

I may have to attend this after all.

Nothing vulgar with what he said man. Can’t believe you moderate these panels.

In the future, dispense your advice without sounding so condescending too please. Be the example you want to see.
