In case you haven’t heard, Russell Peters, the popular comedian and actor will be coming to Kuwait next month for a one night comedy event. Tickets went on sale yesterday and they range from KD20 all the way up to KD750 for the VIP section.
There’s been a lot of negative feedback on social media regarding the ticket prices with a lot of people saying they’re too expensive. The thing is I don’t think they are. If you put aside the KD750 for the VIP area, the most expensive ticket is KD60. I’m not sure what people are comparing the prices to but based on my personal experience KD60 for the best tickets in the house is pretty cheap. For example last year I paid KD100 for a Bob Dylan ticket and it wasn’t anywhere close to the stage. I paid KD200 this summer for front row tickets at a Smashing Pumpkins and Marilyn Manson concert and I paid another KD200 for a UFC189 ticket that was so far away I spent most of the time watching the fights on the large overhead screens. KD60 for great seats is a pretty good deal for Russell Peters in Kuwait.
Regarding KD750 for the VIP tickets, I called the organizers to get more details about them. Firstly it isn’t KD750 per person, it’s per table and each table holds 5 people so it’s KD150 per person. But according to the organizers these tables are no longer available since they’ve decided to give them away to certain people instead of selling them. So most expensive ticket you can currently buy are the KD60 Platinum ones.
Anyway for those of you who’ve never heard of Russell Peters you can watch the two videos below. For details on the event you can click [Here]

There’s a difference between watching Bob Dylan, Smashing Pumpkins, Marilyn Manson and a stand-up comic of Russell Peters caliber who is very one dimensional.
Yeah but
(a) he is one of the most popular stand up comedians
(b) the event is taking place in Kuwait where not many events take place
(c) KD60 are for the most expensive tickets, my KD100 for Bob Dylan wasn’t anywhere near the stage or anywhere near the best tickets
(d) tickets start at KD20
“theyβve decided to give them away to certain people instead of selling them.”
This always happens in events, the best seats are reserved for specific people who don’t pay a fils. the only income the event gets is from the poor people sitting in the back seats.
they aren’t the best seats, if you check the map they’re located behind the Platinum seats.
That would be fine if these specific people actually showed up. I’ve been to many events where seats reserved for VIPs remained empty all night
The main question is… Is he going to be allowed to talk about any subject and freely choose his wording ?
I hope no one is going to cancel the show for any reason…
Exactly I was going to ask the same question
He’ll probably follow the same guidelines he followed when he was in Dubai.
On his website, Kuwait is not listed in the upcoming shows schedule but Dubai and even Saudi Arabia is! :S

My only concern is if his script will get censored. Other than that comedy shows are rare in Kuwait and it sounds like fun.
Honestly the VIP tickets sounded a bit ridiculous but the explanation makes less sense. It sounds like they’ve just been bought privately and not through the website.
He isn’t really controversial and he’s already done stand up in the region so he know’s how things go here.
A friend of mine told me of an incident in Qatar, where he was “admiring” a big-breasted girl who was sitting in the first row accompanied by her FATHER π
Now, I don’t really blame him for it, as people sitting in the front row of a stand up comedy show should expect to be picked on, but again, in the middle east, you gotta be careful.
Gonna be interesting to see how the show will be like in Kuwait, considering the amount of profanity and the adult nature of his show.
As I’ve already mention I don’t consider Russell Peters a controversial comedian and he’s already performed in the region.
@Lucky_boy: I agree with you. Guess he will change his routine coz it’s the Middle east. Too much unnecessary profanity and adult content.
Russell Peters is awesome but I think he will have to leave some of his material at home. He can do his impressions of nationalities but I’m thinking his sex jokes won’t be ok here.
I’m actually surprised the ticket price isn’t higher. This is a guy who has sold out Madison Square Garden. These prices are pretty comparable to what I paid to see him in North America
Sold out MSG? Wow. I’ve never heard of him. Maybe I should get out more.
I know when not to comment!
He is racists, and most Arab jokes are offensive, he spread ideas of Terrorist Arab with his jokes, I find it very offensive to even consider bringing him here, plus he goes interfere with GCC policy, I find that very offensive as well, I would pay 40k.d. for Gabriel Iglesias, I mean that guy is hilarious funny, doesn’t use racists, and you should see his standup about his Saudi Arabia experience, very open minded, display how stereotypes isn’t right, and nothing he saw suggest otherwise.
He’s a comedian stop being over sensitive!
he makes fun of people names from different country, he make racist joke for every place, he is most racists one ever, and NO, we’re not okay with him.
at least other comedians, make jokes on their own race, but he, NO NO NO, every country, every person, and go insults people on audience, how would you feel, if HE made fun of you, and people laugh at you? for simply trying to go to toilet, and say it out loud.
and during ISIS, I bet he got new Materials using arab with ISIS.
At least he picks on everyone equally π
So just don’t go to the show. Problem solved
Racist you say..should fit just about right in Kuwait..
Dude! He makes. Fun of his dad ! Makes fun of Indian names ! , why are you getting do offended, he has talk good about Arabs also ,”Arabs are normal but tv shows the crazy ones “it’s his type of comedy ,
yeah except most of his stereotypes are true – and come on – we’ve all lived in kwuait long enough to know the stupid shit that happens here and the sort of ppl that make that stereotype so true
My dad told me of a saying, “A fool and his money are easily parted.”
I’m done paying for overpiced things, and concerts are on the list. The greed is strong in the world today, and I’m not going to help it out.

I’d gladly pay 750KD for a table for me alone if it was Louis CK instead.
Saw Louis CK up close and personal in NYC at the comedy cellar for $12 and a free drink in a cosy and comfy setting…He randomly drops by frequently there…
How easy was it to get in? I hear his shows sell out almost instantly.
I paid $144 to watch him at Beacon Theatre back in 2011
i hope Lee Evans come here one day
Lol, only a tool would pay 750kd to see Russel,s just get a ticket, fly out and watch topnotch comedians for half the price.
All of Death Squad need to come to Kuwait and immediately get airlifted by Bill Burr in his helicopter after the show.
Youtube
Im a Russell Peters fan, watched him live in Dubai 7 years ago for 240 dirhams and i was seated in the 9th Row,small conference hall at Crowne Plaza Dubai so i would say pretty decent price for a decent seat. He will not use his usual controversial jokes as most stand up comedians are told before hand what topics/subjects are barred to joke about in this region, but he was still hilarious and I felt the show was my moneys worth.
Whats really weird is that it has not “yet” been mentioned on his facebook page nor his official website on his gig in Kuwait. The shows in Saudi and Dubai have been mentioned but not Kuwait…
I’m keen to book a couple of tickets for the show,…..but was wondering about the events company Vibrant inc…who/where is this company? Why isn’t there an office number/address listed? If for some unpredictable reason the show got cancelled how would the tickets get refunded?
There office number is listed on the booking page it’s what I used to call them for info
People with such a mentality shouldn’t go watch a comedy show.
Comon there is some percentage of truth in these jokes which is why it turns out to be a joke number .
Sometimes Comedy is the most silent way to protest .
And plus take things more easily. You are not the most important thing in the world.
Why would you pay money to hear the same jokes you’ve heard him say a million times?
why would you go to a concert if they’re going to sing the same songs they sung before? LOL Similar concept.. love for the artist
i tried booking the Platinum for KD60 but it wont let me choose the seat. I am not going to pay if i cant choose my seat. How did you do it, how to choose a seat before paying.

So sad that I’ll miss the chance to hear his funny jokes π
